STR is strong because it scales well early, at 54 STR 2handed you'd be at the soft cap of 80.

When you have more levels you could go 54STR 80DEX with quality. Buff yourself golden vow, weapon buff etc.
One of the best things about greatswords/colossal is easy stagger. Make sure you're attacking once every 6 seconds or at least using a throwing knife and get those staggers. You could use Blade of Mercy since you'll be getting staggers. Figure out your maximum punish, when you can do a charged R2 or jump attack.

Personally I like normal sized greatswords better, like the Claymore or Greatsword of Solitude. They have almost as much stagger as colossal, but way less stamina and faster. Dual wielding 2 greatswords can be good at times, less since we have the Two-Handed Sword Talisman

Shouldn't feel weak. You can jump attack Morgott in 7 hits, he doesn't even get a chance to fight back really. The Determination Hammer build can 4 shot Malenia. The new Bloodfiend Arm can cheese Radahn by stunlocking him. The new Fire Knight Greatsword colossal weapon is very strong due to its moveset and speed.

Shouldn't feel weak at all.

So it is worth to go colossal? I'm using a greatsword now, normal one.

Also most colossals are split damage, so you're gonna get double flat damage reduction against enemies. Try the Greatsword with Savage Lion Claw, that slaps

I'd say against bosses normal greatsword is almost always better.

Your bread and butter will be fully charged R2s. You can't do it with every window but you should have several opportunities throughout a fight. Include the Axe Talisman in your build and you'll be cooking.

I also love colossal just for the ability to pancake enemies. May not be optimal but it sure is fun! :praisesun:

They turned Elden Ring into a monster hunter fight with Bayle, the fight is insanely difficult with colossal weapons but still fun

dash attacks are really good too and your best bet for bosses with small openings

I mean, the whole point of colossal weapons is that they're slow asf but one good hit is all you need to turn the tides of a battle. Though they can be hard to use in the DLC boss fights as many of the bosses don't really give you the time to charge your heavy all the way.

Compared to what? Bleed Dex builds... 90% of builds are going to be weaker than specific 'metas' that are passed around and pretty much all the easy ones involve some sort of bleed dex. The strongest possible (ignoring perfume bottles anyway) metas are 2H Strength builds utilising Lions Claw and attack buffs. But for blind builds, 2H Strength is definitely where I find the most fun.

I finished the DLC without using summons/spirits two handing a greatsword and, while not as easy as other builds, it's still quite strong. Crouch pokes and strong attacks are what you primarily want to be doing though. Jump attacks have ridiculously long recovery time now and so I found very little use for it as a form of consistent damage. So I wouldn't waste a talisman spot on it for your average build.

Ideally, you want to put a good few points into strength for using incantations like Golden Vow, Flame Give Me Strength, and Fortification Incantations just to buff your raw damage and damage negation. Some bosses like Consort Radahn have fairly short windows so being able to trade hits is pretty nice to have as one of the main benefits of larger weapons is the hyper armour you get to not get staggered when getting hit.

I’ve only used a greatsword. There really is no need to use anything else. Stagger, bleed, quality if target is immune to bleed. I really can’t justify using any other weapon. Been playing with it, since ds2. Haven’t looked back
