picked up dlc items
I picked up some DLC items that were dropped by an invader. Since I don't own the DLC, I'm worried about getting banned. Is that a possibility?

You should NEVER pick any item from strangers. Any regular item that can be obtained via normal gameplay is fine even if it got cheated in. IE: giving yourself a +25/+10 weapon will not cause any trouble. But giving yourself (or picking up) a +50 weapon might get you softbanned, where you are only paired with other cheaters. If you pick up any item you should discard it inmediately if you want to be safe.

I don't think so? but the user above is right.

there is some hackers that tend to drop unobtailable items, and if you grab them you'll get flagged

If it was a weapon, armor, consumable or ash of war, no. There is 0 risk of ban.

If it was a spell, gesture, invalid item of any kind - potentially.

Why would you get banned? That's all just a game mechanic.

All they dropped was fire knight's shortsword, rellana's twin blades and carian sorcery sword all base level.

you're fine. those are just weapons. They probably duped them. You don't need cheats to do that

99% sure those items were cheated in if the invader is just giving them away, because 2 of those 3 items are only obtainable once per run. I would personally discard them, but if you want to keep them since you don't own the DLC, just check that they are "legit": no illegal upgrade level, no strange ash of war, normal stats, that kind of stuff. You can use the wiki to double check. If they are only duped and identical to the real counterpart, you are fine.

I don't and never have or will.

Seems you are admitting to it though. Shall we help you out and lead you to Steam police?

Don't pick up stuff that strangers just randomly throw out. Only pick up stuff if it's a legit trade. Otherwise, don't bother. However, weapons and armor don't get you banned unless it's cut content like Fia's panties.

It's best not to pick up stuff the strangers leave behind unless you're exchanging stuff. Also if those were the only things you got, you're safe. Anything you obtained can be duped by copying your save file before you dropped the item and replacing the save file if the item was given away. The person now has the copy and so do you

The first post is correct, picking up items from a stranger can be dangerous to your account. However, if you asked on the forums for a DLC item and you coordinated a meeting for them, or if it's a friend you're cooping with who dropped the item, you are fine to pick them up and use them.

Non-DLC users can use DLC items in past games without concern. I don't see why it would be different here but i haven't tested it myself.

How about picking up Lords rune and Heros run from someone who has definitely duped them? can you get a ban if you take them?
