Does the DLC effect the base game?

HI guys,

Just bought Elden Ring a few days ago and just wanted to know from those experience folk out there.
Does the DLC add anything to the base game?
I don't want to miss out on anything, especially if theres things like extra class choices at the start, new weapons in the base game etc.

DLC stuff can only be found in the DLC area.

technically it does. if you pvp anyway, people are going to use dlc items in base game area

Actually did anyone notice that if you fight any NPC's from base game ( Big jar fioghters, Fia's Champions ) they use DLC gear ? :D why tf

I think, it's kinda randomized from all over the game.

fias champions are real characters made by players, just like the jar champions, data of characters get uploaded and used by other players in their respective fights

I got a new item drop from a carian knight in Luiniria on my new playthrough. It's the new straight sword that also can cast spells, forgot what it's called. So it looks like new items can be dropped by enemies in the lands bewtween.
