Changing Great Rune - how?

How do you equip a different great rune? I know where the menu is but only one appears available even though I have others. I can't remember if the base game required unlocking them or something.

All I know is I can only use the one I had equipped already and no others appear in the menu.

You need to restore them via the towers before being able to use them.

You also have to activate the great rune at a tower if I'm not mistaken. Then once activated, you can switch between them at a Site of Grace.

Yeah you have to unlock them at the towers, mogh and morgott share a tower.

Every unactivated great rune's description gives a vague idea of where to go, in order to activate it.

Great Runes don’t carry over to NG+. You have to revisit the towers and activate them again.

That worked. Sorry for being an idiot lol been awhile since I played the base game even though I have 300-400 hours total haha
