how to use heal from a distance?

i have been cheesing through the game with my man Poop Boy, and i have just come to my first real challenge: sunflower

i do see that his head takes more damage and that he's vulnerable to fire, so i'll get him eventually, but i also have this nifty healing from a distance spell, so I can heal up the Pooper so he doesn't poop out 1/4 into phase 3 (3 phases From? 3?) except... I can't target Mr Poopy Pants, only the boss

what to do, anons? how do I make this spell work? thanks

I personally walk up to them and aim at the ground so it gets placed on my feet. It takes away the ranged aspect, yes, but it still the best heal in the game vs the FP it costs.

you need to free aim heal from afar if you want to heal yourself.


Lock on to the bosss than cast or go to the friendly summon and freaim to the ground near them

This spell suffers from essentially having two ranges: right on the player, and about 40 feet away. It's not a great free-aim spell from my testing. I'd advise practicing with neutral camera to see how far it typically goes on a flat surface and work with that understanding
