Report a translation problem
They have a unique icon on the map that denotes their exact location. Here's a video that gives a pretty good breakdown on what those icons look like. At 0:01:56 you can barely make out what looks like a stone "pillar" or obelisk like icon where he places the marker. That's the icon you want to look out for when you look at the undiscovered locations. They do not populate on your map until you enter the area they are located in, once within that region, they will show up even in the browned out areas of your map as seen in the video.

SPOILERS! Fromsoft really ♥♥♥♥♥♥ us over with one of the maps on the east side being locked behind a hidden wall that unlocks a new area. The wall is located in Shadowkeep. There's also a lot of places that can be seen via the map, but they only have one entrance. So you will not be able to travel on those locations unless you find that entrance.
