exploring the map killing enemies never rlly played before and i open a chest that takes me to the lyndell capitol next to a giant boss that i cant kill because i just started and dont have the skill. but i cant leave the area?IS THERE ANY WAY TO LEAVE? or am i going to have to make a new character since area lock is a thing apparently. great game but if i can get area blocked due to a trap like that with no way of leaving and you have to make a new character to get out is a bit ridiculous

Have you tried teleporting back to a previous grace you unlocked on your map?

You have to touch the site of grace that is literally right in front of said giant boss. Once you do that you can fast travel to any other site of grace on the map.

Edit- Anytime you get transported like that you have to rest at a close by site of grace to be able to fast travel back to a previous site of grace that you unlocked.

That is not boss and you don't need to kill him.
Rest at grace and you will be able to fast travel again.

You can grab talisman in chest near giant.

like fast traveling from the map? and yes, but i used the grace in front of the boss lol

Yes, fast travel from the map. And yes make sure you REST at that site of grace in front of the boss.

if you ever get trapped you just need to reach a bonfire, there is only 1 especially annoying trap, but the one you provide is a fairly safe one

You mean the Caelid one? that I as a Souls vet wandered my way back to Limgrave then into Liurnia and back to Limgrave without knowing there was a map for over 10 hours and without Torrent either because I did not understand wtf happened with the cutscene? (yes I am this stupid to not look for in my inventory for the item and to not even look for a map because souls-like games never haave maps.. I also did not reach controls schemes much less forum or guides).
Honestly, it was way more fun than you can think of by not using the map neither Torrent for that long, world seemed way larger and locations felt with more detail and dangers too.

lol yeah, that one can be a bit scary if you get there a a bad time, as far as i recall, its the longest "run" to unlocking your teleporting
