How to know if a weapon is good?
Title might be a bit silly sounding but hear me out.

How can i know if a Weapon i find is able to surpass my equipped one?

Im running around with Rogiers rapier +22 for AGES but there a so many interesting weapons that i found which i have no idea if they are better IF they reach +22 as well...

Of course EVERY non upgraded weapons is worse than the +22 but is there a way to see if they might be a better option?

Use the weapon. Does it's moveset feel good? Go for it.

If you wanna get nerdy about it, the wikis generally have the the scaling spreads on the wiki for each upgrade level.

If weapon looks interesting I upgrade it to maximum I can
with infinite upgrade materials I can buy from merchant lady.

For endgame and DLC it means I upgrade it to near max.
I don't use final upgrade until I'm sure I will use it more than just for test.

I always do a backup of my save file before going all in trying different builds, and you should to. Highly recommend it.

Check and compare it w similar weapons, how is the base damage and scaling? A nice one will prob have a little more base dmg and slightly better starting scaling, like comparing club vs reinforced club, then theres the superior stone club.

Does the weapon have innate bleed? That puts it a cut above other weapons. example cross naginata or omen cleaver great axe.

Other weapons sacrifice scaling and power to get bleed.

Is the weapon somber smith or standard? Standard( + 25 max) tends to be better because of how you can change the scaling and ashes of war w infusions. Unless the ash of war is that good. You can check for popular ones, pvp weapons that players hate tend to be epic. Or experiment yourself.

Even if the weapon doesnt have any edge,( for fashion) you can buff and git gud. Buffs are super powerful.

This. All the weapons are pretty well balanced.
Some will do huge damage, but they'll be slower.
Sometimes a weapon will be mid but have a crazy AoW stuck on it.
Etc.

The twin maiden at the Roundtable Hold. Take a left when you teleport in.
When you collect the miner bells she sells you the stones.

You're best off having a diverse set of weapons anyway, and the DLC throws tonnes of runes and stones at you, so you can just try things out.

Personally the way I test this is like this:
Go to Leyndell underground roadside site of grace. Prepare weapon, go outside room and kill the Omen whateverhisname is with it, how fast does he die and is he able to even hit me back. That's how I know.

If you want to know beforehand for weapons you have not upgraded you can use this:
https://eldenring.tclark.io/
It is weapon damage calculator.

The best weapon is the one you find most fun to use.

I was using the golden halberd for most of my run, but got bored with it and switched to the siluria tree great spear, made my build full crucible knight as well for the fun of it.

Rogier's Rapier isn't the best choice for Bleed honestly. And if you want a Bleed build, there are a lot of options around to boost it.

Radahn's Set is a good choice though, that's one of the better sets in the base game.

just try it, i usually use that little ruins area near the start to test lvl weapons, if they perform well enough and feel goo enough i decide to upgrade them.
