Spears Vs Halberds

Not really asking which is better but moreso what makes a spear better than a halberd in a situation and vice versa

Well if you have a greatshield, you can attack with a spear while blocking. You cannot do this with a halberd

spear you can keep your shield up while poking. halberd you cannot

halberd is fun as a 2h, but guard counter into stagger into crit with spear and shield feels very tight and efficient. halberd you cannot swing well in tight spaces, but can do a big circle all around yourself if you have room (right? they still spin to win, right?)

My go-to spear is the Spiked Spear, dropped by Marionette Soldiers wielding it. It has passive bleed effect, can attack with poke and wide sweep.

People have already said it, but basically hablerds tend to have better damage, but spears can attack while blocking.
Spear and greatshield is a very solid combo as a result.
And the spiked spear is indeed very fun.
