Nanaya lore spec SPOILERS

1. Nanaya is the woman in the painting, LONG speculated to be holding her pregnant belly.

2. She's found dead with an item on her lap, Nanaya's torch.

3.Nanaya's torch reads:
A torch made by attaching a dying flame of frenzy to a small spinal column.

In a distant land, in an age long past, was born a man who failed to become the Lord of Frenzied Flame. All that remains of him is cradled gently by Nanaya.

Ready? This is FromSoftware mind you...
The torch is made from a baby's spine. Maybe stillborn or sacrificed but Nanaya is cradling the small spinal column because it belongs to her baby.

And the dying flame of frenzy refers to Nanaya's waning faith, out of grief.
