I actually thought he was a good fight, he leaves plenty of openings for his head, I wouldn't bother attacking the body as you'll run out of stamina and when he does the fire breath under him or the jump back tail swipe you won't have stamina or time to run and dodge.

wasn't too hard to beat him and I agree on the "lock on" feature. don't use it! it can help in phase 2 when he goes airborne but not for dealing damage. at least not for me as a knight in heavy armor with fingerprint shield and fat roll.

Yeah learning to free aim is heavily encouraged.

Don't lock on, it's suicide. Stay on his leg/stump and dodge his aoe, it's easy after a few tries. Ingon also helps.

Umm, I killed him 1st time, and the beginning of the fight I was looking for the stupid summon sign for the one npc … I let my mimic deal with him while I look and despite getting hit a few time before I found the summon sign.
So mimic, the npc, and me with the death knight’s blade, at blessing level 14
