Does the PVP/Arena etiquette is dead ?
8/10 times people in arena just ignore the etiquette and just run straight to you

The title mention it, does the pvp etiquette is dead ? I still do an emote, waiting for the opponent buffing himself like in the good ol'days but i'm starting to be pissed of kids ignoring rules made years before they spawn in the real world, running to their death in the hope they will hit me before i cancel my emote. It kinda ruin the experience for both players in my opinion as we don't show our full potential.

I know you play the game the way you want and i know that even in dark souls we had people already ignoring the etiquette but it is kinda heartbreaking seeing more and more people breaking the duel unspoken rule

What do you think guys ?

This is a game for the masses now. One that actively discourages PVP and puts it in an arena. Don't expect much.

Like it or not, this is a real "unspoken" rule in every souls, i see it as a form of respect

Even in real life, there is a duel etiquette, if you know history otherwise it's not a duel, it's murder

Eh, I still get 6/7 polite people. I'm not at the "meta" level though. If people don't want to bow though, I don't get salty, I just whoop them since they're usually running a min-maxed Mooveil build that they have no idea how to use.

I play around 125-150 in different char and regardless of what i play there is no respect (i can understand that if you play agaisnt a mage you don't want him to space you lol) , no waiting for buff, no waiting for your bow animation to cancel, etc and if you dare to loose because they start spamming you while you are in animation they throw you poison pot as a BM + tea bag and then when you tag agaisnt them right after and play their game and beat them they disconnect lol i just don't understand why ruining arena seems fun to certain people, i'm not even salty since i really don't care about loose or win, i don't understand and i'm just sad seeing this happens in one of my favourite kind of game

No it isn't. It's just something you like to do. Doesn't make it a "rule". Seen plenty of PVP in older souls games where they didn't show any "etiquette", just got right down to business of attacking. Also comparing it to real life duels is a false equivalency.

Try taking your level above the meta. At 265, people seem a lot more chill and open to trying different builds. Sure, you'll still get sweaty tryhards, but also people just goofing off and doing weird stuff for fun. And I never have any trouble matching there either.

hard disagree

the best part of pvp games is organic encounters with respect. makes you feel like you are in Roshamon, or fighting General Rommel

Often if I start buffing, the other person starts buffing as well. Or even just lets me sometimes. I try not to abuse people's patience though.

That's all well and good but it doesn't mean it's a "rule"

It's something that the OG of the community usually do. There is plenty of post, threads, topic or whatever talking about, this is even something veteran learn to the newbs that's why i said "UNSPOKEN" rule and not "WRITTEN IN THE STONE OF THE ANCIENT" rule

It was common and everyone knew about that (at least the ones who had OG player in their friends or the ones that interract with the community)

Yeah that's all well and good. Still not a rule.
