(Spoilers) Midra was both the coolest and biggest letdown
You get a cooler looking (and less adequate) version of an existing spell, you don't get his cool tattery chest thingie, you STILL can't have the Frenzied Flame Lord head as a helmet

Dragons get two transformations, Omens finally get one that doesn't do anything except haha bighead and we can't be a real spooky frenzy demon?

We can't have his Headbutt dive spell? That was every bit as cool as Scarlet Aeonia.

The boss 11/10
the boss theme 11/10
the sword is goofy for pvp so that gets 8/10
the spell 1/10
no armor -100/10

I have never in my life felt so robbed of potential and possibility by Miyazaki. Boss rewards feel like an afterthought

Thinking about it even more, we get a worse version of Unendurable Frenzy that we can't hold for more than a couple seconds as boss reward, we get an EVEN WORSE version of Unendurable Frenzy as a torch ash of war on Nanaya's torch, we get another even worse version of Inescapable Frenzy on a glove that doesn't even scale with Arcane...

They really did just recycle two spells into two new inferior weapons and one new inferior spell. This kind of recycling puts Bethesda to shame.

Worse yet, we get no cool armor or visuals from the boss despite their being humanoid. I am so starved for REAL frenzy content that I'd have even settled for the dumb yellow tatters he wears, but can't even get that small of a handout.

The frenzy perfume bottles are not great in pvp and hey guess what? Frenzy is heavily tilted for being usable in pvp :(

Midra rewards really are the frenzies we endured along the way. Not even a ripped p yellow t-shirt for our troubles. (I am actually fuming if you guys can't tell. Thematically, frenzy has been my favorite thing in ER since the start, even in PvE where it's pathetic)

I really wish the spell was better, it has such a presence to it. I'd love to make use of it but it just doesn't compare to the damage or usability of unendurable frenzy. Hopefully they buff it.

Boss himself was super fun tho

At least we got to pretend we were, Solid Snake on the way to Midra’s house:mhwhappy:

This is a really fun fight, right up there with messmer. He's like a classic ds3 boss, actual telegraphs, some spacing, actual recovery after his attacks. I always cringe when I hear this but you finally get the "dance" feeling for once with at least one boss in this dlc.

If it just blinked in and out of existence and had a long reaching frenzy buildup like the orbs above the towers in base game that'd be neat. They knew we wanted a Frenzied Lord head and gave it to us as an april fools spell instead.

This was very little to me in the shadow of how much I wanted decent frenzy stuff this DLC.
In the wait since the announcement all I ever talked about with my friends was how much I wish they'd expand on the Frenzied Flame and 3 Fingers. It was criminal enough that they removed Kale's questline, this DLC's addition to Frenzy is a slap in the face.

Midra himself is amazing though. Hope there's enough lore for Vaati to cobble together, I'll eat that up.

I do agree, the devs could have done more. The hoops we had to jump through to even reach his area. I was hoping for consecrated snowfield/ haligtree vibes.

The devs did essentially turn the entire area into a dungeon. Since torrent is too scared to come out, we have to slog our way to his mansion, which wasn’t really a mansion. Really feels they missed a good opportunity with Midra’s whole area.

I'd have been more than happy if we got his headbutt dive or head as a helmet.

Now I just have to PRAY that the Lord of Frenzied Flame mod on the Nexus SOMEDAY becomes a simple replacer so I can use it online and feel halfway decent about myself despite no one else being able to see it.

Honestly I think just having it apply frenzy to everything in view would be enough in addition to how it is now, would make it very oppressive

I feel like this is super reasonable of an ask now that they added a timer before Madness can begin building a proc again with 1.12

I want everyone vacationing in this thread to imagine how, in Bloodborne, the Cauliflower head transformation affected various animations like dodging and rolling.

Now imagine getting dude's head and STRUTTING around like he does in the boss fight while embers go spewing everywhere. That, THAT is what we should've been given. A transformation to be mummy frenzy man. I'm sure you all think I'm insane but I feel a profound sense of loss after waiting so long for this DLC, just to get sad recycle powers.

I'm sad they had to censor the cutscene to keep the pegi 16 rating maybe also :(

we really did get robbed
they gave frenzy the vanilla st. trina treatment with this DLC for sure

It just occurred to me that an alternative/additional cutscene or even just some dialogue if your Tarnished is the Frenzied Lord would've been killer, too

Pretty sure it fades to black as an artistic choice, makes us soak in the horrific sounds and then as he's hunched over we wonder "sheeeeeesh is his head still there?" and then BOOM frenzy lord goodness

that's why, I'm sure, when we get to see again he's got his back to us and he's hunched forward to hide the lack of head.
