I guess they wanted to give more "superboss" feeling bosses in the game compared to an end-game challenge only like Darklurker/Friede/Gael/Orphan
Bosses like the Godskin Duo are criticized almost across the board for their poor design, even compared to other duo bosses which are also not loved. If you cant get good enough to beat them without ashes, you can use sleep pots to easily put them to sleep while you work on the other. The cookbook for sleep pots is just northeast of the Artist's Shack waypoint in Limgrave, and that should help you quite a bit. The game is hard, not impossible
I'm going on a bit of a rant here, but it's not directed at you personally but rather those who share your opinion. Try not to take offense.
Anyway.. It's a solo/co-op game. Everything you find and are able to make use of in-game is valid. That means that if you're a die hard parry/riposte player, meta build user, challenge runner, X only player, consumables only, no horse etc.. - it's all OK. It doesn't matter even in the slightest how someone completes the game and frankly it's insulting to have people try to gaslight others and take away from their achievements because the game was not played in a manner they prefer.
Certain things do make the game easier, but so what? If that's the way someone wants to play - what's the problem? I mean that as an honest and open question. I have never gotten a good response to what the actual problem is with this..
im not quite sure why your asking me to take offense considering your just saying "play how you want" which doesn't contradict anything i stated.
i wasn't judging people for getting help, im just saying the topic creator is wrong for saying its the expected method of progression through the game.
by default, the game is solo, it doesn't force you to interact with other players ever, it is a choice the user makes and nothing more.
in other words: the game is made for solo, everything else is on top of it.
people made the same argument with bosses like the 4 kings in dark souls, or any "gank squad" complaint from other games, but its always been the same
Most people with the problem come from playing the Souls series
Which in the case of Elden RIng is a massive minority
But the Souls experience was a very strict experience, that was easy enough for a solo-player to get into that most agreed that summoning was taking away from the core experience
Here in Elden Ring though the line gets a bit more blurred since the game is either really challenging when going at it with the old Souls attitude, or it's even easier than the older games if you actually go out of your way to use everything at your disposal
I feel like a lot of people who disown new mechanics are people looking for the fine red line that made Dark Souls so good, but sadly it just is not present in ER with such a different take on the style of game.
