Game freezes and crashes after boss kill or great rune.

So, I've been having a problem the last month where every time I kill most bosses, the game will immediately freeze and crash soon after, with the event ID 1002. I haven't made any major changes to my PC, and have tried pretty much everything that I can think of to fix it. These following fixes did not, in fact, fix it:
- Verifying file integrity, restarting, verifying again
- Reinstalling the game
- completely removing and reinstalling both graphics and sound drivers.
- sfc scanning/ DISM commands
- Reinstalling the redistributable files on my PC.

Also, this really isn't a hardware problem as I can smoothly run the game otherwise on pretty much max settings. I'm stumped here, and with the DLC being out this REALLY sours my experience thus far. Is there anything more that I could try, other than a complete wipe of my SSD? Any suggestions would be hugely appreciated, and thanks in advance :D

the same thing has been happening to me, I killed the red wolf of radagon, renalla and the misbigoten from the weeping peninsula and the game crashed all 3 times, it also crashed after I restarted the game in rennala's room right after I beat her. And like you mentioned it also happened after I activated Godrick's great rune. mind you I have over 300 hours in this game and this started happening just now. makes no sense

there is a problem with the steam client since tuesday all steam clients that use a beta feature cause the game crash at every archievement checkpoint (+25 weapons, killing bosses that give archievements, round table and so on)

deactivate the beta use in the steam client settings till valve solved the issue.

Stop using the beta version of steam, there are too many bugs like that recently, I had the same problem as you and turning off the beta works for me.

So what should I do if my Elder Ring account is a family account and I can't change these beta settings? I am writing this from my main account, but the account where the game is located does not allow me to change this beta option.

You can only wait till valve solve the issue.
