Light Load do anything?
I know its supposed to make you quicker and roll farther but it seems hardly noticable and i rarely see others light rolling. I moved to a lighter load to try it out for a while and now everything one shots me with 22 vigor in liurnia, or two shots if im lucky. Is there a reason to light load or should I just stick with medium

More distance = easier to get away

but is that all, doesnt seem worth it for just how much more damage you take. any extra i frames or anything? getting one shot even while wearing dragoncrest shield talisman doesnt feel good. and the roll isnt much further then med roll

Let's just say, there's an item that lets you light roll at any equipment weight for 3 whole minutes, and it's banned in PvP tournaments because it makes the player virtually untouchable.

But in PvE it's a whatever, might as well get used to the medium roll distance and enjoy the extra protection.

Well, no. Distance is really the only thing. Its mostly up to preference and whether you're pvp'ing or not. I'd say just go for Med Roll.

Stick with medium roll early on, especially when you're still learning the game.

Light roll offers increased roll distance and, more importantly, faster roll recovery. The faster roll recovery allows you to more quickly attack, block, roll again, or take any other action sooner than you would with medium and especially heavy (fat) rolling. This makes it especially useful for fast moving enemies and bosses like Malenia and Maliketh.

ok thats important to know, i didnt know it gave a better roll recovery. still seems not quite worth it for just how much more you take. maybe when i max out vigor ill give it more of a try

It's only good if you're at a high skill level. I use a shield so a medium load fits my playstyle better.

It is ...

The leap roll gives extra distance.
it's the difference between getting hit with a ErdTree club or making it out of range.
The added range also allows for an attack often times that would be too slow..
also
Blue dancer charm if you want to be naked and boost your dps ...

i played my first 300-400 hours on medium roll builds, then i went light roll, and now i can't go back, i started a medium roll build last week and every attack that i dodge easily on light roll now always just nicks me. I think if you haven't played 1-2 full playthroughs on light roll, you won't really notice the difference/benefits, but once you learned it, it is staggering

I finished the game with medium rolls so not sure if it gives additional iframes at that, though I guess it does increase roll distance and recovery so it could help get away from attacks a wee bit better? Hmm, not sure.

Light roll distance got nerfed because of pvp crybabies too who fail time and time again to adapt and change their tactics. So yeah, just go medium roll with decent absorption.

Iframes are the same for every roll EXCEPT fatrolls which get a negligible one frame less. So it's not as big of a deal as it's been in the past.

yeah fatrolling is literally just one less iframe
the big difference is the roll recovery time

Light roll is quite useful in many cases, the longer distance can be huge to get away from attacks. My take is that if there's even any way you can tweak your build to achieve light roll, it's worth having, though in some builds it's totally unfeasible.
