Riposting Dragonkin Soldiers

Is there a reliable way to riposte dragonkin soldiers?
When standing right in front of the glowing weak spot, my character goes for a normal light attack instead of the riposte animation most of the time. Approaching slightly from the left or right doesn't seem have an influence.

Every tip is appreciated. :)

Big monster ripostes can be janky. I was having trouble riposting Giant Miranda Sprouts with DMGS last night. But Magma Wyrms are super easy to riposte, even if you try riposting the wrong eye your character will just literally slide over to the other side lol.

every time you go for a riposte imagine the center of your screen having a circle u need to align that circle with the zone where the ripost takes place (tested it myself) and always stop atacking before atempting to riposte since if there is another atack in the buffer your input will just go as following the atack combo

Thank you so much for the input. Now I get the crit every time. The tip with centering the screen was crucial here.
However, it seems that the actual "crit-box" (for lack of better terms) is slightly misaligned with the dragonkin soldiers. Instead of centering on the glowing spot, I stand a bit to the right of the right and center the screen on its nose.

glad to help :D and try to not always go for the riposte because most of the times u can output that dmg simply by hitting with normal atacks / AOW
