melina gives you torrent and rani tells you that melina is torrents former master. with the dlc reveal, its shown that miquella is torrents former master (they even ride torrent the same way like how a lady in a dress does, with both legs to the side, even though miquella is a boy)
this could maybe mean that melina is actually a male? her dialogue when you first meet at a grace point might allude to this, she says "i can play the role of maiden" implying that HE can play the role of a lady (which miquella actually does with his alter ego of st.trina being gender ambiguous- people werent sure if st.trina was a boy or a girl)

theres also this subtle detail in how melina is able to put you and others to sleep (st.trina is mysterious person who is related to sleep, also miquella is sleeping in the cocoon and was sleeping in the haligtree) she puts you to sleep when you reach the erdtree to burn it.

Well, she's one of the few characters closely associated with fire, just like the Gloam-Eyed Queen, and the only humanoid female iirc. She's also a wandering spirit of some kind, which would make sense (using RPG logic) after she was defeated by Marika, and would fit with her 'lost purpose'. We also know that the Gloam-Eyed Queen is an Empyrean, which would track if she was the sibling of Malenia and Miquella, two other Empyreans, and the daughter of Marika, a third. There's no direct evidence, but the title of 'gloam-eyed queen' also seems like it could be referencing or related to Melina's cursemark or whatever it is over her eye.

I think very similarly but I don't think the "mother" who gives purpose is Marika but the ring itself. Like you pointed out, the naming convention fits and she got dad's red hair.

The Gloam-Eyed Queen was the demigod who wielded the Rune of Destined Death. As Marika got more and more twisted, having her kids fight each other perpetually for her entertainment, the Gloam-Eyed Queen raised her Godslayer forces and started taking them out. Eventually, she went after Marika herself, who deployed Malekith. The queen lost to him, her body was burned away, and her rune given to Malekith to keep it away from everyone, because death ends the suffering Marika found so entertaining.

When you pick Frenzied Flame, Melina opens her closed eye, and it's all sorts of gloam-eye. And she tells you that she WILL destroy you (even though you're now the vessel of an elder god).

Also, ever wonder how Ranni knew how to apply Destined Death to the daggers the Black Knife Assassins had, since she had so little time to do it? How she knew how to use it on herself to /just/ end her body, but not her soul, to free her of the fingers? How she knows to show up and give you the bell and ashes *right* after you get Torrent from Melina? Seems pretty obvious that she's working with Melina to put an end to Marika's madness, and the fingers.

Note that Melina's weapon if you summon her against Morgott is a Black Knife that hasn't had Destined Death applied to it. Which also suggests that she supplied the blades to Ranni.

And then you have Ordina. The town you have to pass through in order to reach the Haligtree. The town that is sealed, and the black knife assassins kill anyone trying to unseal it. Almost like they're protecting Miquella and Malenia (though they either don't know what Mogh did, or couldn't stop him.)

"Spoken words of Queen Marika linger here" doesn't necessarily mean she has Melina's memories. It just as likely indicates a form of psychometry, being able to sense significant moments in those locations' histories. I'm not sold on Melina being either Marika or Miquella though, I am still in the Gloam-Eyed Queen camp.
