By the fact that you're here arguing that the mimic is the one thing that's unacceptable and you're throwing tantrums at people that tell you it's not the only thing that makes the game easy lol
Uh.......what am I salty about, exactly?
"summons the devs put in previous games were to account for those specific difficulties you couldn't bring any of them along with you"
You couldn't bring them along with you because you didn't need to. There was a specific summon for nearly every boss.
And as a result, they performed with exactly as much effectiveness for that boss as the mimic tear does for the bosses in Elden Ring.
Do you understand what I'm talking about when I say it's all relative?
The core function of summons has not changed between these games, nor has their impact.
"in elden ring alone the late game bosses leave little to no reprieve because they are designed with the idea that the player has some other meat shield to create those moments of reprieve."
So then how are people finding plenty of moments of reprieve without using the "meatshield?"
The way you talk about these end game bosses is EXACTLY the way new players talk about Gwyn when they feel like the only way to win is to summon Solaire.
Again, it's all relative.
The title isn't the only thing you said in this thread my guy
You're just out here kicking and screaming while throwing buzzwords, take a break and calm down
Exactly.
Mimic Tear is performing the same role all other summons have performed in the past and does so with the same effectiveness, relative to the game in question.
The player improves, moves away from the "easy mode." Natural progression of skill through practice.
thats what came off as salty to me but if not my bad
as for summons for nearly every boss idk about ds1&2 but ds3 sure as ♥♥♥♥ didn't have summons coming outta the ass, i could've used one for pontiff or midir dark eater
"So then how are people finding plenty of moments of reprieve without using the "meatshield?"" brother i'd love to ♥♥♥♥♥♥ know for malikith. the best way i've seen for half of them is hoping rng is on your side and they dont whip out their op moves 5 times in a row.
says the guy spamming insults and raging just because someone said the mimic isn't the only thing that makes the game easy, so constructive
also you keep repeating the ''projecting'' buzzword, what am I ''projecting''? do you even know what it means?
Even Pontiff and Midir had NPC summons.
And ER bosses aren't even all that hard once you figure out their moveset. Same with every souls game.
Mimic Tear and ever other spirit ash summon is there to make the game easier. That's it. And considering they trivialize the game I'd say they definitely did NOT develop the late-game areas and bosses with them in mind. They can all be OP considering all you need them to do is pull aggro so you can smash attack on bosses.
The series always had multiple ways to pass forward including ez-mode.
Coop is the prime one and was there from the beginning further intensified by addition of overleveled phantoms at some point.
On that background mimic is barely noticeable.
I wasn’t salty. I was speaking about how a lesser skilled player’s perception of the game will naturally change as they improve.
Pontiff is a good example.
I raged at him. Then I practiced. Then I got gud. Now I love him and have for years.
It really comes down to studying patterns and recognizing them. RNG plays a part for sure, but bosses tend to reliably follow one move with another.
So you pick up on that.
Maliketh for example begins phase two just about EVERY time with the same jump slash.
After the cutscene, the game positions you roughly the same distance way from him.
So you combine those two points of knowledge aaaaannd…..back up a step or two and watch him completely whiff. Lol
Thus opening him up in a major way.
Seriously. Watch your favorite souls streamer like Gino or something. Watch what they do. They’ll either take a step back or they’ll run forward, knowing that Maliketh is gonna jump over them.
So that’s how you find those moments. You gotta study patterns.
