Edgar the Revenger (spoilers inside)
I just went to the shack and got invaded by Edgar the Revenger. Wanting to know more about the NPC (felt he had a lot of HP and wanted to double check) I saw that he is related to Irina; and the wikis say that in order to meet him you need to do Irina's quest.

But the only part of Irina's quest I did was meet her. I got her letter and that's it; I didn't do anything beyond that... so I'm wondering if now her quest is broken because supposedly I should have met and delivered Irina's letter to Edgar.

I think you should be fine. If you are checking wikis, look up Hyetta questline.

Her quest is broken, yes. It's not much of a quest through. Basically you can find Edgar on a really obscure rampart, then he'll help you with the misbegotten boss if you summon him. Then if you go back to where Irina was, she'll be dead and Edgar will be distraught, and then he'll disappear and reappear where you found him. You didn't miss much.

Why does he attack us?
He goes crazy after Irina's death and presumably takes up with the Frenzied Flame.

This is what starts the frenzied flame ending questline. It's not broken, wtf?
