Best katanas to dual wield?
I went through the base game (on release) with a str build. But I wanted to do something different, so for dlc, i respecced to dex katana dual wield, however I doubt my setup is optimal. I'm on rellana and she's tough, but I also feel like my damage isn't great.

I do have rivers of blood as my main, because I remember it being good + bleed proc. My second is a standard uchigatana with cold affinity, but I was curious if there's a better secondary katana? Even with the DLC included.

And talisman stuff etc feel free to recommend.

I'd say Nagakiba. Better range and possibility to put Ash of War. It all depend on your main stat build.

But with the DLC, so far that I had found, the Great Katana replaced the nagakiba and you still have the possibility of adding an Ash of War.

I might be wrong.

I'm using Great Katana with Seal to buff it with Bloodflame Blade and Flame Grant Me Strenght Incantations and Double Slash as weapon Ash of War. The best katana build so far, that scale on DEX and STR, you just need to put it on Quality Ash of War to get a B on both dex and str. Bloodflame Blade will help the bleed to stay longer since its a DoT. You can use as optional Commander Standard as off weapon only for his buff "Rallying Standard" which add physical damage.

90str/90dex

Just a tip, you get more damage scale from STR if you 2-hand your katana and more from DEX if you 1-hand/dual it.

Your damage is bad because you respecced into a dex build... then decided to dual wield a dex/arcane weapon with an dex/int weapon. Gotta pay attention to the scaling on what you're equipping.

So... if you want to main RoB, respec and split your stats between dex and arcane, not 50/50, pick one to prioritise more than the other. If you prioritise dex, your off-hand wants to be keen, if you prioritise arcane it wants to be blood or occult.

The best generalist katana to dual wield is probably the nagakiba though. It's very ordinary in most regards, but it's long, good reach is a huge advantage. Only one is available per NG cycle so if you want a second one you'll need to get it traded (exactly what I did on my dex character). Being a 'normal' weapon you can infuse it into any build you like, for pure dex you just take keen, if you want to lean into bleed procs you can go for an arcane build with blood infusion, which also opens up the option to switch to occult if you want more raw damage. Pure dex is probably the way to go on it, since it lets you buff it with magic such as bloodflame blade and the like.

You are right. DEX isnt sustainable without STR. For katanas build he need that strenght scale damage or else he won't hit hard enough.

Dex doesnt add much damages, even on dexterity weapons.

For max effiency from the katana he need to max both DEX and STR.

Nagakiba would be the best option for dual wielding (if you can access a second one).

In any case, the lightning infusion may be a better choice for Rellana. She's wearing Carian armor (metal) and her arena is filled with water that further reduces her lightning damage negation. It also scales with DEX, so it should still deal good damage on your current setup.
