The spoopy forest area is so bad
- Massive area with no horse riding
- Forced stealth due to invincible enemies

Who the hell greenlit this, I bought a Souls game, not some crappy survival horror.

The whole thing was basically sprint ahead while constantly quitting to title to reset the unkillable enemies.

So dumb.

You don't have to stealth, you can kill them by parrying their grab and then riposting them. They don't respawn either.

Anyway I completely agree that the area sucks.

I posted this days ago in another thread. After killing the first one i broke my "first blind playtrough" checking if there was something about how to kill the Winter Lanters.....0 Youtube videos and some Fextra dudes posting "JUST PARRY BROH"......i actually was there more than one hour trying to figure how to kill the first one.

There, i recomend you to kill them all. There are like 8 and all you have to do is just parry once, then maul them. The first one will drop a talisman, the others a extremly rare reagent.
They dont respawn and there is a statue of Marika near every one.

Good luck.

The only part that sucks is just how...little there actually is there.

It's SO BIG and there's only madness rats, a few maddened horned priests, and the Elden Ring version of the Winter Lantern from Bloodborne.

I was so, so, so looking forward to maybe more Prince of Death stuff or even more nods darker stories of Messmer as the "Abyssal Serpent." Maybe even some serpent iconography items and equipment to really hammer in the snake love.

But nooooooooooo.
It's just an absolutely HUGE waste of space that doesn't even feel good as the token "madness" zone for the "frenzy" junkies that just NEED their yellow piss-piss beams and eyeball squirtguns. Give me a break.

Have mixed feelings too. It kinda sucks, but if you would just find the villa down there it would be boring too.

It's supposed to be desolate and empty i guess.

The coast was a bit boring as well.

Most areas are pretty good imo. The more empty once are a bit meh.

Hold on, let me look at my play through.
Yup, they're all dead from parries, don't know what to tell ya friend, other than git gud.

I had the exact same thought, down to the word 'spoopy'. RLM?

For the record, there is a mansion with a remembrance boss.

My first run of the DLC was a rogue so a frenzy boss doesn't even have anything I'd want :'D

Well, screw me for playing blind instead of following YouTube guides.

I sneaked up on the first one and tried attacking, there was no health bar.

I just put on the dripness that is black knife chestpiece, that also eliminates all noise from movement. And looks damn good while doing it :D

It is super weird cause in the gameplay reveal trailer you can clearly see the player character using Torrent in the Woods. Maybe you need to kill all Lanterns to unlock it? But then what's the point, the area is bland, empty as ♥♥♥♥ anyway so it isn't like you are returning there after you get to Midra.

Nope, there is no way to use Torrent there i can confirm this after killing Midra and all the Winter Lanters.

Dissapointing but hey.....i hope someone can come here and post the way to make Torrent the chad he was before instead a chicken.

The parry thing is definitely something you wouldn't know without a guide.

Reminds me of that inactive furnace golem on your way to this area. It's blocking the entrance to a building, and there's a ledge nearby where you can get up to its "head". Clearly you're meant to set it on fire to activate it. But fire arrows don't work, explosive stones don't work, the fire orb incantation doesn't work either. Okay, I'll try the Hefty Fire Pot. DOESN'T WORK. So finally I give up and google the solution.

Only the Hefty FURNACE Pot works. An item crafted from LIMITED materials, mind you.

Honestly the forest was my favorite thing in the whole DLC that and the Mesmer and Midra boss fights but the forest gave me some Bloodborne winter lantern vibes and I love Bloodborne.
