The final DLC boss is a fat L
The DLC started to grow on me a little bit, I hate to admit it, but it did! Lots of little hidden things I didn't expect and some crazy ways to get to it!

Then I remembered (or rather) was reminded I'm playing Elden Ring. Whoever thought massive lightshow jump you at the fog gate 17 hit combo with delay swing into followup aoe into oh you're using a greatshield lol whats that? Good luck to the casters and the dex builds out there because this thing is about to test everything you dislike about souls bosses in one sitting. I'm not one to say, "I'm worried for the future of the series." about anything because it's a game, after all, but I pray to all deities hear me and my soul is yours. Do not let a soul that designed bosses in this game touch any potential Bloodborne or Sekiro sequels. The Devil can have the souls genre, just keep the best game of the series pure of this horrible ramping of visual effects and brickwall until you get it design philosophy. What little I enjoyed about this DLC got thrown in the trash the moment I crossed that fog door the second time and big boy gave me a nice AoE fogwall sandwich kiss.

Before the usuals show up, I've beat him and all the other bosses in this DLC. Of 80 (Including the reused from this DLC and repeats from the base game, yes that's right I killed every ulcerated tree spirit too!) about 6-8 of them were actually in the comfort zone of fun and challenging.

tl;dr Skadoosh fragments are still a dumb design piece!

Brother, idk what you think is parryable about a meteor, but I'm game to see the video if you can post it.

Get out of the meteor to not get hit by it.
You realise after both his rising holy AoE and the meteor he can just warp to you right? We are experiencing the same boss yeah? I think you might be thinking of Festival Radahn friend.

Fighting this boss is like playing a Gacha game. Wait for the RNG to go in your favour and pray.
Pretty much how my winning attempt went, I was lucky enough to proc a big bleed for his last bit of health as he was about to melt me with a 20 hit lightshow, I literally just said thank god thats done, hit the memory, alt f4'd and uninstalled lmao.

This is sad :-/ That's not how a boss fight in a From game should make you feel - especially not the last one.

It certainly doesn't live up to the sadness of beating Gwyn, the hype of beating the Lord of Cinder and the absolute spectacle while maintaining balance of Isshin the Sword Saint

Honestly using the beloved build I made and completed the whole rest of the game with I doubt I will ever beat this boss.

The saddest part for me was having to shelve my jellyfish shield for the erdtree greatshield, the rubbery boy was with me the whole journey :(

dude most of the relativly easy victories vs Radahn so far have been parry wins..... (the other most easy wins have been Mimic + OP Bleed chicken weapon or MImic + op bleed throns spell)
you can kinda limit his moveset massivly when using parries....
yes you still have a couple of attacks you must pay attention but overall this so far is the best non spirit summon strategy.

He maybe only does 20-25% of his moveset when you get close and parry him.
Meteor you have to outrun.

I only see a reiteration of the problem that he can chew through a greatshield with a minor amount of hits, I could indeed parry him by swapping my build to something based around parrying and at that point I'm already on the eh dumb boss train bc what's the point of the rpg game that forces me to play 2-4 viable options against a boss?
Sonnenbank Jun 25, 2024 @ 3:47am
Well i am not defending boss design in ER DLC.... in fact i kinda hate it...
i was just saying the parrying so far is the easiest method to kinda break that stupid boss

without using mimic

yeha its kinda stupid....

you either use mimic + bleed ( And ofc be a high level tanky guy so that mimic is tanky)
mimic + bleed spell
or parry

if you use anything else the boss is 100 times harder

well you pretty much summed up my entire frustration with boss design in all elden ring, even tho i am a massive souls fan i will never understand the hype around this game with all its flaws, but sadly many people are just blinded by the fact that its FromSoftware game mady be the god himself master myiazaki

Was stuck for like 3 hours till I used a rune arc and beat him on the first go.
TokTheGod Jun 25, 2024 @ 4:00am
Use maxed Verdigris or Fingerprint shield. Have 60 Vigor, 50 Endurance, 60 Arcane and the rest into Dex/Str. Wear heavy armor and use a maxed Antspur Rapier with Blood infusion. Talismans you use Greatshield Talisman, Golden Braid, Two headed Turtle, last one is up to you. Mimic +10 and block with your Greatshield and poke with your weapon.

That seems to be the most reliable and easiest way to beat him.

I have to unlearn every lesson from FS games and rethink my strategy = boss design is bad.
K-Sama Jun 25, 2024 @ 4:45am
This was by far the worst boss ever, and completely soured the dlc and game for me.
Game as a whole is just 5/10 now. If I ever were to replay it, I would do every other optional boss but him.

Agreed honestly. To me the world is the best part but that even has its problems. I like the game overall but it's pretty low on my fave Souls games because it honestly just feels like From is looking where Players have windows of opportunity against the bosses and finding ways to exploit that when they add more bosses.
Jeris Jun 25, 2024 @ 5:03am
I got Radahn down to 1 hit left, but choked it. Now I cant get back that close. :(

But, I did learn in phase 2 if you get grabbed twice by Miquella, you get a new gesture. Good luck getting grabbed on purpose tho. Hard to tell when that is the move vs getting whomped on.
