does the dlc add anything to the basegame?

Not that I know of but I'm pretty sure people who own the dlc can drop weapons for people who don't have the dlc, I could be dead wrong though

Nothing new in the base game. Everything new is in the DLC game. What you can do is finish the base game before you try the DLC. Because it is definitely tougher than the base game. It makes Malenia looks like a common boss.

If you want to try DLC items in the base game. Two ways. Go to the DLC to get them as soon as possible or start a new game and trade with a friend. I usually do the latter.

No, they did their best to keep it very separate, you'd have to go out of your way to beat an Endgame boss at a very low level to even get to the DLC.

None of the new items are in the base game. Nothing you do in the DLC has any effect on the story of the main game.

You can use all spells, armor and weapons from the dlc in the base game. Its also full of upgrade materials too.

Waste of my $43. Got all the way through the whole dlc. Just to find out that the final boss is a reskin of one we’ve already had. Not to mention a moveset that is absolutely bull with 4 different moves that are un avoidable. This dlc isn’t hard. It’s unbalanced. The whole dlc is a bunch of enemies aggressively spamming every single attack they have with no openings. Like. The dungeon boss to get to the madness area? Summons minions with the same spells the boss has and runs from you the whole fight. That’s just a dungeon boss. The only good boss in the dlc is Mesmer. I’m sorry. From soft you lost this one.

The only real bad boss is Commander Gaius, everyone else is clean and provide some of Fromsoftwares best fights to date.
Also Consort only has 1 punishing move that could be considered unavoidable (it is avoidable) which is his 2 inward slashes followed by an outward release.

genuinely my only issue is that neither melina nor gideon can have any dialogue relating to the earth shattering ♥♥♥♥ in the dlc
like, of course it's a game and the coding on quest progression is already screwed as is but it just makes it feel just... videogame-y, i guess?

The base game map takes place before the DLC. Melina and Gideon are both dead by the time you do the DLC.

The requirements are rahdan and mogh dying, not burning the tree, both melina and one eye are alive, miquilla even refer to you as prospective lord not actual, it's on going with the story, I am not sure where you got that from.

Unless their is some major dialogue I missed.

Metyr is pretty goated imo. Super easy but very dark soulsy.
