Shadow of the Erdtree makes my FPS drop

Hi. I've been playing Elden Ring a lot lately, especially to prepare my character for this new DLC. This is like my 4th run and I can tell 100% sure that since I bought this expansion my gaming laptop starts lowering my FPS to 40 whenever I come across a waterfall, rain or there's a scene with many VFX.
My laptop is a MSI Katana 17 B12V:
- CPU i7-12650H
- RAM 16GB DDR5 at 4800 MHz
- GPU RTX 4070
Again, I'm totally sure this is the first time I'm expiriencing this issue. I've always played at maximum settings without any problems

This. Never seen EAC implemented this badly. Game version 1.10.3 was fine. Game version 1.12 was rendered unplayable because of this.

Turn off Vsync and turn off HDR.

Can confirm EAC is a major factor. Disabled it earlier and it's a lot smoother while off. Still getting low fps in a few odd areas but higher overall and the hitching is gone.

I don't remember tbh, but I did notice every now and then. For example, the resurrection effect of the skeletons has been causing massive FPS drop in ER for me ever since launch.

Thanks, man. It worked. Now I have stable 60 fps everywhere, including areas from dlc, where even rtx was pretty laggy.

For those who interested:
1. Do the clean gpu driver uninstall (using DDU uninstall utility).
2. Download Nvidia driver from 12 December 2023 version 546.33, install it and reboot your PC.

that would be hilarious.

Toggle raytracing between whatever and off, and then put it back to what you use, without saving between the toggles.

yeah I get 60fps in base game and 40fps in dlc so sad man, rip my money

The end boss of the DLC proves the game engine is basically being expected to do things beyond its limitations. Waaaay too many effects on some of the spells/attacks and I go from buttery smooth 60 fps to around 30, the second all the effects are gone it's back to 60 again.
