That said, there's definitely some optimization that could still be done here, such as loading in less of the world while in dungeons etc, I've been getting framedrops in some unusual places where you'd expect it to be higher due to not needing to render large distances.
Some people are also saying that EAC could be the problem, which does make sense while the player count is high seeing as that's another separate server to connect to. I haven't tried disabling it to compare yet myself.
I hadn't, actually. I've gotten into the habit of only upgrading my drivers when I have problems, since the last time I did so it CAUSED problems. But since this one does have notes that they did stuff for the expansion, I've installed it and I'll see how it goes tonight.
for context:
CPU: ryzen 5 2600 3.4GHz 6 core 12 thread
RAM: 32 GB
GPU: RX 6700 XFX Swift
my GPU is equivalent to a 3070
My drivers are already up to date and I also tried to lower the quality of the game but nothing. instead it's like it keeps getting worse
My game was nearly freezing and dropping as low as 30s when I had stable 60 before the update. It's still struggling a bit but it didn't do the near freezes last night and seems to be improving over time.
