ELDEN RING
Mesmer is so broken its not even funny
With how broken he is and how intentional many of the BS things about this fight are, i honestly hope this DLC get even more negative reviews.
If this is what they have in mind for their future games, i will never buy them even on sale, let alone preorder like i did with all of their prior games.

Mesmer is easier than Gaius.

i think your build might just be bad if you think he has a very large hp pool.
60 vigor, 60 str, 60 edr, 130 poise with the new armor of solitude and a +10 ruins sword with twohand. I literally cannot get any more damage on the sword as its not buffable, and since i was doing purely melee build, i don't have other buffs from faith or pyromancy.

I guess I'll try to get a second colossal sword, and see if the damage is better, was told that powerstancing is the way to go with majority of weapons in this game. So i guess if I'll ditch the armor for something lighter i can have 2 colossal swords and still have medium roll
you should be getting good damage your build seems fine. i think you are be able to get a charged heavy off after he does the explosion thing at the start other than that go for jumping r2s for normal openings and roll/crouch pokes if you want to hit him mid combo, it should do over 1k damage per hit. if you just want to get the boss over with just use the star fists and only use charge r2s with the axe talisman. other than that all you can really do is practice and get as good as you can at the fight
Just beat him, and yeah, he wasn't enjoyable to fight. Too much spam and jumping around.

I mostly hated the flame after his spins. lol
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YDny3bQv8bY - watch a bit how let me solo her is helping other players to beat him, pay close attention how he's dodging, when he's dodging and how is he punishing whiffs.

I spent like 30 minutes watching LMSH and I did beat him with less than an hour with my mimic. No resistances, no rune arcs, just simple dodging and doing my best to make him focus on my mimic. If you go with mimic, dont go all in when he's focused on tear, he will change the taget and smack you before you will notice, just go in, poke, fall back, observe what he's doing. I think with 1-2 more hours of attempts I'd solo him without much of a problem, his moves after a time become pretty easy to read and dodge.

Other option is respec and go for full tank build, you'll kill him first try.

It does 700, I'm at 9 tree upgrades now and i don't know, i don't see any tangible difference between 7 and 9
It took me 2h to beat him, his first phase is actually super fun, but to be honest the second phase is kinda annoying with those stupid snakes.
he is probably one of the more "fair bosses" in the dlc lmfao

haha just waste about a half of hour to kill him what a problem bro
i've spent an hour trying to kill him and every new attempt i was finding out new broken things about him. For example one of his attacks (a single hit) can actually hit you twice. Well aint that great, right?
One hour and already throwing a tantrum? I fought Isshin for 7 hours straight before I beat him. Malenia took me 5 hours.
Lol, it is one of the easier bosses in the game.
Git gud
git gud all time goated S tier boss fight

Y'know a good way to learn a boss is to use a shield(used serpentcrest for this) and simply listen to the feedback of ur block to get the timings down and use the mimic tear or NPC summon to help out distract him a bit to give more breathing room. if nothing else you can summon other players and see how they deal with his moves. I know some self impose the non-summon rule but frankly don't deprive yourself of a tool to learn a boss you can always solo him later when ur better at the game.
Summons can actually screw you over in this fight because of the apparent AI changes in the DLC bosses, Messmer in particular has a horrible habit of switching targets mid combo to punish the player for any incantations or flask usage.
Absolutely. This is one of the reasons I say the DLC was obviously designed around spirit summon usage. The boss AI has a really nasty habit of just suddenly switching target to you and ignoring the spirit. Mimic tear is still ridiculously good, but the other summons are not the easy cheese they once were.

And yeah, I don't see any point in abstaining from using a tool the game gives you. I don't like summoning other players to help with bosses, but I quite happily use spirit and NPC summons, factors the devs themselves put in place and have accounted for in the game design.

They also seem to have changed mimics aggro, its now just randomly walking doing nothing a lot of the time, unlike in base game.
Worst part about aggro switching is that it can happen mid combo, and boss might turn almost full 180 just to catch you, but again, the more annoying thing about this all is that most of the time you can't even see it coming because there is so much visual clutter during combos.
Like lets take messmer for example, he's fighting mimic, he does that fire throwing move, i walk into his radius only to immediately get hit by his gap closing spear thrust that i couldn't see because of fire.
Super annoying.

Now having killed him, I don't understand why fromsoft are so hellbent on keeping their bad camera without any adjustments to it at all, when it clearly doesn't work well with:
A. Bosses that are very big and have quick moves
B. Bosses that have very fast combos

In both instances the camera just goes haywire , again, contributing to that "can't see ♥♥♥♥" part.
