Someone explain to me why the Scadutree Blessing mechanic is bad.
How is it different to just gaining exp in other games exactly? Because it isn't. You explore, you get stronger. That's... that's what you signed up for...

Base game: important character progression upgrades can be seen from forever away at churches and golden trees

DLC: important character progression upgrades are hidden on random pot dudes and corpses

You're literally telling me you're either not actually playing the dlc or your stupid. The Scadutree fragments are exactly as telegraphed as items like sacred tears and golden seeds in the base game. I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stumble over them just by exploring at random. Smh.

The ones by the crosses are in the vast minority. I think I've explored more than you, although I don't think you're stupid.

It scales poorly. It's too hard at the start, It's amazing in the middle and then it becomes way too easy at the end. You can stop upgrading at a certain point though so it's fine,

Explain how I have literally just been tripping over these fragments then? I take my time, look around, *pay attention* and I find plenty. So far the only boss to actually demolish me has not been the one everyone is talking about, Rellana. I utterly ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up Rellana.

Its not too hard at the start. I beat the Blackguard Gaol knight with 1 blessing. Lion Dancer at 3. Rellana at 5. Its. Not. Too. Hard.

It's not. It's an exploration based leveling basically, instead of grinding based. Some people hate it because they can't grind their way through the game by the genocide of Albinaurics anymore, and they actually need to visit places and overcome challenges.

Here, you answered your own thread :)

That's not what telegraphing means. You asked, I answered. Neither of our opinions are fact.

I asked why the mechanic is bad. Your answer was stupid.

Gaining XP is a constant progression that rewards all engagement with the game. It's a constant underpinning that makes all activity feel meaningful.

Fetch quest does not work that way, and you can spend a lot of time combing a new area without finding the items you need to actually make progress, making it all feel like a waste of time.

Also, with the DLC's difficulty being more flat, the Scadutree Blessing creates an abnormal progression pattern: The early game is by far the hardest, and the lategame is significantly easier. This reversal is unintuitive and not very engaging.

Also also, the Scadutree Blessing covers a wider range in fewer steps, which leaves less wiggle-room. You can be a couple levels under the ideal level range in the base game and not feel completely shafted, but being a bit below Scadutree level is immediately murder.

Overall, this system did not need to exist, as regular leveling ranges would've done the trick just as well, if not better. Scadutree Blessing feels like filler content. A way to inject extra rewards without having to actually give the player anything they don't already have.

out of 50 skibidi fragments there's maybe 3(?) found on random pot dudes? the rest are at Miquella's crosses, drops from bosses, at altars (that you pass by naturally when progressing through legacy dungeons), just from taking the most straight forward path to the end you'll get like 15 skibid levels, the idea that they're all hidden away somewhere tells me you haven't even played the DLC lol.

It's simply not possible to design the entire DLC in the game like souls for players who can level range access it anywhere from 90s to 200s, before accounting for NG+, and keep experience anyhow consistent. The side leveling mechanic is a must. And tbh I applaud the decision to make it exploration based instead of grinding - this way no is incentivised to grind. Plus the multiplayer brackets people (for instance RL 150 like me) are not forced to abandon their desired bracket just to finish the DLC.

It's pretty smart how From made this simple leveling system work.

The point was most of the locations aren't easily visible from a distance like sacred tears/golden seeds in the base game, so finding them without a guide has been weirdly obtuse for me. "Straight forward path" isn't really a thing in an open world exploration game lol

It's "bad" to these people because they're clearly just trying to zerg rush through the DLC which is 5000% against the design of the content (exploring in an open world game, truly mortifying...) The same people were crying about Radahn being "impossible" when they never put a single soltary point into Vigor back when the game released. :2016bee:
