Stop crying about the game difficulty
Most of the players i've seen complaying about difficulty got in the dlc at lv 120/140, this is an end game dlc, the raccomanded lv imo is 170, at that lv i got the brutal difficulty of the dlc, yes sometimes it feels unfair, but to be honest being hard it's the whole point of the expansion. I think that at this point in the game you can use everything you've got to overcome the boss, like hundreds of differents weapons, weapon arts, buffs ecc. so just mix and match to overcome the boss. I don't want to say "git good" but just explore, not just the areas, but weapons and instuments the game gives you. Im currently around lv 176, strenght/faith build without using summons, and i'm having fun like i'm playing my first souls game. Pls dont do like day one radahn that got nerfed beacuse of bad players.

Level 170 is irrelevant, what matters is seeking Scadturee Blessing while exploring the map.

If I'm not mistaken, this is just blatantly false. Yes erdtree scad matters a ton, but it's percentage based, so higher hp, higher level, higher reductions all benefit on a percentage scale. Meaning having those things higher will give you more Ehp or "effective hp". But I keep seeing people pretend nothing else matters, forgetting that 50% of 100 is 50 and 50% of 1000 is 500, 10x the benefit. I genuinely feel like they should have just slapped on a "be 200+ to enter" suggestion so that people only have themselves to blame.

The real question is... People are swarming the forum because they can't progress, this makes sense.
But all those paladin defenders of the true git gud mentality should be busy enjoying being farmed by the now finally barely challenging bosses.. so why are they on the board?

i'm defending it beacuse i dont really think its that unfair, i think people should focus more on the real problems of the game, like the ♥♥♥♥ optimization

if you can't get good with the build that is currently failing you and you feel like you're stuck.
then change builds, use summons, craft items, call a friend, look up a guide.

you have nothing to prove, nobody to impress by limiting yourself from using these things.
all you're doing is making the game hard by yourself, you are essentially shooting yourself on the foot. the game is only as hard as you make it.

it could be so much easier if you wanted it to be...

you are mistaken. i'm level 197 with 64.483 physical damage reduction from armor, the dragoncrest greatshield talisman and +9 scadutree blessings. i have 1704HP thanks to the +3 crimson amber medallion. with black flame's protection, i can get my phys damage reduction up to 76.901% and bosses are still 2 tapping me. gaius and mother metys or whatever her name is to name a couple. i haven't checked the golden hippo again, but i bet it's still the same. i can adjust my other damage reduction thru spells and other talismans, but aside from more scadutree blessings and the 1 time temporary benefit of a certain flask of wondrous physick ingredient, i don't know how much more i'm supposed to be negating damage or boosting my hp to make this DLC feel properly balanced. at 76.9% damage reduction and 1704HP, i should STILL be getting 2 tapped by these bosses? if so, then what and where is the build variety for people?

exactly, i'm not using the mimic tear for example, just beacuse i like the challenge, but most people wont use it beacuse they have to prove something, or just beacuse for the comunity is bad, the exact same thing can be said for int builds, blasphemous blade and rivers of blood. just use wathever you want, if its in the game it means the developer wanted you to use it.

I mean, I'm not mistaken if what you say is true. People with half your stats on gaius are getting 1 tapped instead, the effective hp is still in play. They clearly made it so face tanking just doesn't exist, but it's content for when you have beaten everything the base game has to offer, so that sort of checks out. It's just standard power creep. I've been helping others with the early bosses like lion, rallana and hippo and I'm noticing each has a move that is basically "dodge, block, or die" no matter what your stats are. But they are pretty simple. I'm running 60 vigor (1805hp) and 31% average physical reduction at level 289 and can take 3 hits from hippo while summoned in others games.(reduces stats to their level) If anything this speaks to the point of high level is even more important if what you say about your stats is true but are taking less hits than me.

Level 150 is actually the most agreed on Meta for PvP et PvE and at that level u can comfortably get a good build going, if its too hard good, keep dying and keep trying, Souls games are all about memorizing patterns and punishing when u get an opening, can you add some cheese? yea...will it always work, bet your ass it wont :P so far been dunking on my fights using a Vagabond starter
Vigor 50
Mind 10
Endurance 30
Strength 60
Dex 18
Faith 45
Intellect 9
Arcane 7

Blasphemous Blade+10 on most if not all fight's
Godefrey and alexander shard Talisman to juice up my Ash of war
Greatjar arsenal and for last slot i swap Between curved sword when boss can be guard counter abused or Twin headed turtle when i need that stam regen for quick hard hitting bosses...hope this helps a few people out
