not sure why that is a weird concept to you, getting hit=a bad act, of which pots are to recover from, if you dont get hit, then they serve no purpose.
so i guess in summary: potions are of situational use, whereas the blessings are useful always, cause they're passive upgrades.
Flask upgrade - easy to see temples on the map, plenty in the wild, game does not become a drag without them.
This power upgrade is just bad game design, do not know why people defend it.
