ELDEN RING
You can't learn a boss by fighting them anymore
Playing the DLC more and this sticks out to me. You can't really learn the bosses by fighting them anymore. All the DLC bosses follow all the same trends - infinite poise, multiple hit endless combos, wide AoE attacks that have small dodge windows, ability to instantly teleport exactly to where the player is - and most attacks are enough to one or two shot the player. The DLC is basically an exercise in running back to the enemy that killed you and hoping to learn a single attack and then rinse and repeat.

It's really just an exercise in bashing your head against the wall over and over. Bosses in souls games didn't use to be like this. Orphan of Kos is one of my favorite bosses of all time, and you could actually learn his moves as the fight went on. Same with Dancer of Boreal Valley and Slave Knight Gael. Go back and revisit those fights and it was more of a chess match where you could learn and adapt during the fight as it was going on.

The Elden Ring "difficulty" mainly just comes from multiple attacks strung together with hyper aggression and those attacks basically designed to one-shot the player with little to no predictability and no ability to use basic tools such as distance management or poise breaking - fundamental game play concepts. What happened From Soft? It's fine in small doses, but when it's your only trick for every single boss, it's just lacking.

Just go through the DLC and count how many enemies have these attributes - wide AoE, endless multiple-hit combos, infinite poise, ability to teleport exactly where you are negating any distance management, and how many attacks can one/two shot you.

We can all "git gud" but if the way to do it is like this, is it really fun? I think FromSoft hyper focused on giving a challenge to "die hard players" and forgot to actually make a fun game. It's disappointing because most of the content between the ridiculous boss fights is actually a lot of fun.

I beat the base game twice and once more on NG+. I know how to deal with them. But that is irrelevant to the current discussion.

Goes to show why this is relevant, you don't actually know how to play and just brute force everything at least judging from this. This isn't demon souls nor is it dark souls, you're just stuck in your own habits and thinking.

And this proves that Bosses in ER are not fair and will just endlessly wombo combo if you let them, unlike the bosses of the good games:

I mean, literally everything here is boilerplate Dark Souls boss difficulty except for the insta-teleport, which is less commonly used. I've been playing against those difficulty factors the whole way through the series, so I know I'm not expecting anything new when I finally pull together the spare change to buy the DLC with.

...or are people complaining that the non-shield/greatweapon norm for boss fights has coming knocking on the door of shield/greatweapon users?

seriously, they all have insane closing speed, hard hits, long combos, 1000000000 poise and crazy tracking.

I've fought several bosses with 6+ attack chains. If survive that and try to heal they input read you. Assuming you even have time to heal at all. Like drinking a flask is too slow of an action, much less swinging half the weapons in the game. I've had fights where I avoid all the nonsense, go to drink and before I finish I'm already hit again. It's just cheesy at that point.

Spamming jump attacks is also lame to me. I want my methodical duels.
A lot of the wind up attacks you can fit in an attack, maybe multiple, they're leaving themselves open like an idiot. Makes the bosses die faster once you learn their moves

Are you saying Margit is bad unfair boss? I want to make 100% clear you're putting him in the same category.

100% the games ai that runs the new mobs ran the old ones... long combo sure......but they also have HUGE arenas.........every fight in the DLC is suppost to be a longer fight...... it gives more purpose to using a summoning sign...for the person being summoned........

the entire point of the DLC was to increase the time people play together.......and give people a way to set the difficulty ...............

when elden ring was new nobody could hit for 10,000 damage with the blasphemous blade..... but look at us now

Ok well https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EqcofVw_1Ts I'm clearing the DLC no Scadoos RL1. So it's more than fair

Yes, I have opined on this very subject at great length.

again, someone somewhere being able to do something is irrelevant to the discussion, stfu.

an amazing baseball player hits 60 HR in a season. doesn't mean it's easy, common or expected to do. you can post 1,000 youtube videos and it will still be completely irrelevant to this discussion.

I have a video on my channel beating him at RL1 too. It's a very fun fight

This just proves my point. Margit is an amazing boss who you can truly dance with, you can even easily weave attacks IN his combo, in between his strikes and still avoid damage. You just don't understand the game and don't want to.
ur actually so ass if u think this, the 2nd boss is literally exactly what your complaining the game doesn't have

Thank you for the feedback kind gentleman. We were talking about it being fair. I didn't say it was easy, common or expected.
If you see my other posts I stated that I like the game because it's challenging

The argument seems to be that if it's possible for someone somewhere on planet earth to no-hit a boss, that must mean it's by definition a good boss design? Is that really the argument?
In the series that got popular with Dark Souls PREPARE TO DIE edition, yes difficulty is the appeal. Did you not know what you were getting yourself into?
dark souls isnt anywhere near as difficult as even base elden ring is before you level up, ive SL1 ran thru dark souls and i absolutely would not with elden ring 😅
