New weapons types half baked.
Seriously, what's the point of making an entire weapon catagory for a single weapon. Yes, there's only 1 throwing blade...

They heavily advertised the fact that there was going to be 8 new weapon types like it was going to be a major part of the DLC, but there's barely any weapons for these new types. Even the base game had like a bazillion(hyperbole) weapons for each type.

1 Throwing blade(Thought there's other throwing "weapons" but they are under their own catagory, like this should of been, literally there just to inflate the numbers)
3 Great Katana's(Should of been called a Nodachi)
3 Light Greatswords
2 Fist arts(Actual martial arts and not the new fist weapons)
5 Perfume bottles, of which only one has a unique skill and almost no ash of wars can be put on them.
2 Beast claws
And 2 Thrusting Shields

That's only 18 weapons out of the 90+ added with the DLC actually dedicated to the new weapon types. Like wtf was the point then?

You forgot Backhand blades.

It's a DLC, did you expect an entirely new game with 150+ weapons in each category over a 20 hour play? Like ♥♥♥♥ sakes you entitled babies are bad.

i have seem multiple throwing weapons... what are you on about
Admittedly would have been nice if they added a Bladed Boomerang (Maybe with Death Magic), or perhaps Shuriken from the Land of Reeds. Or maybe throwing needles from the land of Eochaid that could float over you like a Glintblade Phalanx with their special move.

I expected them to only have a few weapons of each type, and they still somehow managed to disappoint.

Really, they should have gone back through and sprinkled weapons from the new types into the Lands Between so there were 5-6 different weapons of each new type. Especially since some of the new weapons can't be obtained until literally right before the end of the DLC when you have nothing to use them on anymore.

In OP's defense: we are paying over 40€ for a DLC!!!!
For that price point, again, for a SINGLE DLC, I do expect A LOT of content.
So far I am pleased with it, some dungeons are uneccessarily annoying but other than this I am pleased.
But the new weapons are really lacking, expected a bit more in that regard.

Again, that is A LOT of money for a single DLC so I get his frustration

My problem is moreso that a lot of the new weapon types were made to be useless because if they weren't, they could be used to cheese a lot of the new content. I've never seen Fromsoft this worried over the intended soulsborne experience before and it's not a good look for a traditionally brazen developer

+1
So far, not a single new weapon beats the good ol' combos from the base game.
And even if some have pretty cool animations, it doesn't mean jack sh...t if you can't beat any bosses with it.
And yeah, you could say "git gud", but why should I learn a new weapon that is subpar when I can just use my trusted setup and be more successfull with it?

That is the one weapon that is fun, but not really viable due to the constant "sticking to the enemy" and therefore being way more available to bein hit.
Fun yes, useful not so much

I used hand-to-hand for the majority of my time in the DLC, and it's perfectly viable outside of a few boss fights. At least when you have Mimic Tear there to draw aggro. If you're not a dodge god, then I imagine the weapon would be pretty terrible without summons.

Maybe play the dlc completely before spouting nonsense as there are multiple weapons in each of the categories (100 new weapons added in total).

There is a weapon the falls under Reverse blades (the hoops looking things) that Charge Heavy, let's you throw them and the Boomerang into the enemy's back.

Star-lined sword should've been a Light Greatsword.
It's got a cross guard, a pommel and is a straight blade.
Nothing about it is a Katana and God knows there are plenty of Katanas anyway.

But yeah, it's kind of lame how few of some things there are.

Effectively one Backhand Blade (the other two are their own thing imo).
One hand-to-hand though I guess that's all you really need.

The main thing I dislike is that some are cool weapons that I'll probably never use because of where they are. If you've killed Mogh odds are your build is pretty well established. Dropping things for people is an answer, but it's annoying.

Also maybe I want to powerstance Light Greatswords, but... you sort of only get the one.
Discovering them organically is neat and all, but I almost wish the more basic stuff was just for sale at Roundtable.

Where the Destined Death and Death Blight? You'd think those would be in SotE.
