I'm Finished With FromSoftware Games...But Good For You

As the title says, I'm just kinda finished with FromSoftware games, but if you still enjoy them then good for you. I'm not here to tell you not to enjoy them. I'm not here to convince anybody of anything really, more or less just to kind of vent my frustrations about Elden Ring and the direction FromSoftware is going as a whole with their titles. FromSoftware just isn't designing their games with players like me in mind anymore, and as much as I don't like it, I still have to accept it. Twitchy based gameplay that looks good on someone's stream but doesn't retain people for long seems to be the direction they are taking these games in now. Yes yes I know what you're about to say and I'll just say see below for what I mean by that.

Seems like they're so afraid of having another Dark Souls 1 "incident" on their hands that they just said "No, you and people like you just aren't allowed to enjoy our games anymore.". By incident of course I'm referring to poise monsters. It's not even really an incident. Miyazaki just really hates that some people slapped on the heaviest, poise-filled armor they could find and just started trading blows with bosses until they died. He and his team treats that style of play like it was the ONLY way people played that game when in reality most people didn't play that way at all, and being a walking tank was just one of the many different builds one could go.

But they hated that idea so much so that even though he was working on Bloodborne at the time, didn't want the DS2 team to let that happen in their game. And of course they made sure it couldn't happen in DS3 and Bloodborne, and now of course Elden Ring. I didn't include Sekiro in that list because the gameplay of Sekiro is just fundamentally different than the gameplay of Demon's Souls, DS1, DS2, BB, DS3, and ER. Yes poise and hyper armor is still a thing sure, it's basically non-existent compared to it's predecessors. Heck, the 51 poise breakpoint that ER had that let you just muscle through ONE attack to get your move off was nerfed in the DLC so now you need even more poise to get the same result because screw me for not wanting to use an ability that isn't instant, right? But I digress. Of course I have substantially more issues with the game other than not being able to just be a poise monster. I still played and absolutely LOVED DS2, DS3, and Bloodborne despite armor basically being just cosmetic in those games, so it's not like I don't adapt and change and enjoy other builds/playstyles.

I could rant and rave all day about how overtuned I feel everything in the DLC is, despite having 10+ Scumtree seed upgrades. Heck I might in a post later on if I'm still salty about it. But for the sake of this post this is kind of more like me saying my final farewell to a friend in whom he and I no longer see eye to eye on things to the point where it ended the friendship. I'm not looking for build advice. I'm not looking for general tips or suggestions on how to "git gud". That's not what this thread is about and I simply don't care as I've already uninstalled the game.

Feel free to chime in if you wish, just know that anything overly negative(like insults, namecalling, etc., etc..) or posted in reply to deliberately try and stoke an argument will just get blocked and reported.

DLC was not interesting. They delivered the same gameplay with no regard to the issues that valid critics had. Disappointing.

btw i'm dodgin like, 10% of the attacks in this dlc, the rest i tank them with a shield or endure, pretty much an havel set experience

I more or less agree

I still enjoy ER's gameplay and most of the dlc but I do wish they would make a game that allows for more gameplay variety and builds with slower moves that can actually be pulled off without needing to be jesus christ himself
