Any way Wicker man is not a tedious chore?
are they supposed to be like this? Or only fight them very late?

I've heard you can do something with the giant pot but need to be high up. That does not even be possible in some places.

I killed three and they only drop crap for the magic bottle

Throw them off balance with club, then deal crit for instant -50% hp

High poise damage weapons will do them in faster. There is also the physick flash tear that increases poise damage to help with that.

I know about the critical. But even with the hammer i found that takes forever tbh.

Yes, they are extremely boring. It takes too much time to stagger them.

Welcome to the club man, ♥♥♥♥ is boring as hell

Grab more scadooshes.
Hit a bunch, don't get hit, wait until big boy fall down...
Hit a bunch more, do a crit.
Do this one more time and it'll be ded.

Good job.

This was my issue, too. I'm just putting them off for now. I'm afraid I might actually die of old age before the thing falls over a single time even with a heavy weapon, charged/jump R2s, and all the poise boosts I can get. I wonder if fragment blessings boost poise dmg... I'm hoping so otherwise they'll just be my final tedious grind in the DLC.

As many people in this conversation, I'm also not a fan of these guys, but I found a """cheese""" (or a strategy that is faster and easier then usual I guess) that worked really well for me. It goes as follow:

You will need:

-Get Pest with a Seal that is max upgraded for maximum damage. I found that the godslayer seal works really well, giving 274 inc. Scaling when I'm at 60 faith and 45 strength. it is better than the erdtree seal and finger seal with my current stats.
-Get Miséricorde and max it out (maybe lvl 24 if you are not too sure)
-Get the following talisman: primal glintstone blade talisman/ flocks canvas talisman/ Radafon Icon / Two-Headed Turtle Talisman
-Get the turtle shield
-Get 30 mind if possible
-Have between 4 and 6 cerulean Flask (I prefer 6 to be safe, But mostly use 4)

The strat goes as follows:

-Equipe Pest tread in your spell slots, Seal and Miséricorde in the main hand, Shield in the offhand
-Only use pest tread to attack while on torrent. Stay close to the wicker man and, most importantly, behind! The fight goes as with other strat. Jump the damage and stay safe.
-When he goes down, use miséricorde for the crit

Here's why the strat/build is useful and helpful:

-Pest tread can basically not miss, so you can't miss an attack as you could on melee horse battle (Yes I know, I miss and attack on a freaking skyscraper, I suck, blablabla). With the wicker man size and slow speed, that means all the treads connect for damage. It is also faster, stronger, with more poise damage and a lot more range than usual weapons. This allows you to deal more damage safely and rapidly. It also costs a lot less stamina, which puts you in a safer space to dodge and jump. The range aid in the same regard

-Miséricorde crit modifier is great to say a big F-U to this bastard close and personal when he's family down! :P Normally my crit would deal 3k damage, but that dagger deals a fracking 6.3 damage ... I'm not sure that I understand crit damage modifier ... but it's great!

-The turtle shield gives a little more stam regen, which is always welcome

-The Two-Headed Turtle Talisman grants more stam regen to allow you better safety. No stam = no jump. No jump = death. Stam is good. Stam is friend

-Radafon Icon helps with DPS, but mostly to decrease the casting time, giving you a little more time to dodge if you just casted a spell. it gives you that little 0.1 second you need to dodge in some instances

-flocks canvas talisman just boosts damage. It is probably the least important in the build. Feel free to change it if you wish. Maybe mana talisman, fire protection or dagger talisman?

-primal glintstone blade talisman helps to maximize your max fp point and flask by reducing the fp costs of spells. It reduces max hp, but you always either die from an attack or survive and heal back to full anyway, so no real penalty there for that situation.

-30 minds feels like a nice amount of FP to have, allowing you to cast repeatedly, without investing too much or having to drink every 6 casts. It's a nice "Good enough"

-With all this combined, you have a strat that allows you more DPS, FASTER, which makes the fight much shorter, which then makes it safer. The range also feels much safer and puts you in a better position and a better mindset.

I hope this strategy helps you. Best of luck Tarnished!

You just gotta stagger em and the crit takes like half their health, so you do it twice and they die, just like bosses

What big pots you use for the version with iron on the feet. I tired 4 pots and it did nothing.

The big fire or big furnace pots are the only ones that work.

Really? What nonsense. Why would a fire wielder be weak to fire. But thx.

Fighting fire with fire is an irl thing. If you burn away all the fuel a fire has in a more controlled way, it will die out.
