Blackgaol knight too hard?
So, I started the game with my endgame character. And I’m getting absolutely slaughtered by the first boss I’m encountering.

Like, I’m dead in 3 hits, and me hitting him does maybe 1% damage. His moves are easy enough, but I can’t get any more in than 20 hits. Which is barely a dent in his overall health.

Now I wonder, is it required to do a NG+ first? Because I can’t believe I’m so underpowered.

what level are you??

i killed him super easy with a giant greatsword - gotta stunlock him :P (at least thats how i did it)
I found parrying worked the best with the buckler shield.

Also you need to find scudutree fragments to decrease damage taken and increase damage given.

But he can be beaten with no blessing levels.

1%? there is something wrong, even without scadu buffs you can get more of his health with each hit.

he has high poise, is in full plate and have a great sword with tons of hyper armor, you just have to counter. use mohg spear or something that can stagger with one hit, a hammer infused with lightning to make use of all his weakness.

Level hardly matters in the DLC. You need to collect Scadutree Blessings.

ahhhhh ... suffering

i switched to parry, like a crucible knight. i was at like +2 scadu and he couldn't one shot, only two shot, so i had some breathing room if i missed a parry

Just go defense when he two hands the sword. When he does that just bait him by staying at mid range to encourage him to pull out the crossbow. You can knock him out of his jump attacks. Dont get hit by the ash of war and remember he sometimes will follow up with an attack that will hit you if you try to roll away / miss time the roll

It's a very manageable fight just don't forget to be patient.

Something seems off here. At level 140 with Scadutree level 2
I tanked his health pretty quickly with dual Warhawk's Lightning Talons.

Try grabbing some Scadutree Fragments and upgrade if you haven't already.

I had trouble until I got to scaudutree level 2 and ate a turtle neck. Finished him right away at that point.

take a katana off and start parrying
or go explore and get some dlc levels under your belt

It's hard to learn to parry at first but after you get a hang of it every humanoid enemy using a common weapon type will just become easy to parry over and over.

You don't even need a special tool or anything. Just medium shield with carrian retaliation slapped on.
