Why do people like Ranni so much?
WOW the more yall respond to this the more I regret asking lmao

TLDR: Ranni basically caused the shattering and the apocalyptic setting of the lands between why do people love her so much?

Is it just a wifu thing? In lore Godwyn's death was the primary factor that caused a chain reaction which lead to the the age of shattering. Ranni stole the rune of death and used it to kill Godwyn so that she could kill her body but not her soul so she could defy her 2 fingers. The effect on Godwyn though, was the opposite. It killed his soul but not his body leaving it as a corrupt empty husk deep within the roots of the erd tree. The rune of death then caused some of the roots to the erdtree to become corrupt spreading something called death root. This caused the rule of "Destined death" to be removed from the lands between. So basically anyone that comes in contact becomes "Those Who Live in Death" which means they dont return to the erdtree when they die, instead they just dont die (to old age or malnutrition) and slowly wither away while loosing their sanity. So basically they are empty husks that just wander and consume until someone slays them. This caused literally the whole post apoc environment of the lands between.
Literally on the elden ring fandom and wiki theres some version of this being said: "
The Night of Black Knives became the catalyst for the ensuing Shattering. In response to Godwyn's death, his mother, Queen Marika the Eternal, shattered the Elden Ring using her hammer"

It was also described like this by someone to simplify it:
"Godwyn's body seems to work as a reverse Erdtree, it takes souls from the Tree, corrupts them into vengeful spirits and then, through Deathroots, it brings them back into their dead bodies."

Ranni's reasoning behind all of this was she didnt wanna become a puppet to the greater will. Now realistically I woulda done the same thing I wouldnt wanna be a puppet to another entity either but that doesnt change that fact that her selfishenss caused the age of shattering.

The argument could be made that the lands between were always f'ed up the golden order never really was good at all, if anything the greater will was some how more tame than the golden order that it left in control. But meh meh as a player im more worried abt why am I fighting insane deformed enemy after insane deformed enemy and most the chaos is traced back to the shattering of the elden ring. And Ranni is loved so much last time i checked her ending has a higher % of completion among players than the default ending. Can someone tell me why is she so loved?

TLDR: Ranni basically caused the shattering and the apocalyptic setting of the lands between why do people love her so much?

Quick edit: I didnt think abt it but like she destroys the lands between then just does nothing for 5,000 years (Its said the game takes place 5k years after the age of shattering). That makes me loose all respect for her ngl. She did nothing for 5,000 years she didnt really even achieve her own goals she needed us. That genuinely makes her seem like a useless brat thats in over her head and only actually achieves something when we stubble along

Ranni didn't actually care about the golden order's rule, She only cares about getting revenge for her mother in the beginning.

She was upset that Radagan abandoned her mother for Marika, So she took offense to the entire golden order. So much that she wanted to burn the bloodline from her body.
She's the opposite of her brother, Radahn. One embraced his heritage, the other shunned it.
What ranni did is the equivalent of burning an entire neighborhood down with the people still inside because your father divorced your mother and found a new fling.
that is....almost literally what I said, but also, working with your analogy, it's burning down a village that consists entirely of your incestuous family and their followers. Which imo makes it more understandable.

She also needed someone to fight 90% of her battles. Sure, She killed a two finger but that was after WE specifically fought through an underground mess to get her a blade made specifically for that.
She's cool but, I don't see her being "on par" with those two. We power her up.

Yeah, you're right. I forgot she's Radahn's sister. I always think she's Marika/Radagon because she was tee'd up to be the next Marika.

And in the ironic twist of fate building off your analogy, the only child she manages to get killed is the one not born of incest.

Her ending is the most straight-forward one to follow throughout the entire game aside from the default status-quo one. It's also much easier to swallow than the Dung Eater or Frenzied Flame. Cold and dark don't necessarily mean bad, which the other two certainly do. But, again, you can reasonably complete Ranni's quest without a guide. That isn't really true of any of the other endings.

Stop spreading lies. Melina gave us torrent and you know it. Melina was seen on Torrent from the start and she gave us the flasks. Melina gave us Torrent who belonged to Miquella. Miquella doesn't even say anything about the torrent in the DLC even though the promotion art clearly shows torrent with Miquella. All Ranni does is give us a bell to use Spirit Ashes.

Oh ♥♥♥♥ you're right. LOL It's been a while. My b
too many simps

Her extra arms need removed, else she's firmly in the uncanny valley. Yikes.
Let 'em simp for that sack of cloth all they want, Hyetta's the true one.

She wasn't the one who caused the shattering, it was Marika. There's in game lore pointing to Marika tasking Ranni to kill Godwyn, her own son. All Ranni did was do some sort of voodoo to imbue daggers with destined death, and for whatever reason gave them to the Numen who only helped her because they believed either she would become their Night King or in the process of corrupting Godwyn, make him their night king.
This's why they attacked Ranni, because she actively betrayed them as her goal was to completely rid the world of outer influences and gods, including herself which was against their intended goals.

Basically the whole story is about Marika rebelling against the greater will.
Also the greater will can influence minds, it's capable of brainwashing and controlling emotions, that's what Ranni's monologue refers to in her ending about going into fear and doubt, because now the people of the lands between won't have it's influence pressing onto their minds.

Cant imagine anything more feckless and impetous then someone writing such a wall of text to argue peoples affections for a fictional character in a game. Trifling.

killing your relatives and plunging the world into chaos for 5000 years until you are saved by luck is rather impetuous and asking for absolute power on the condition that you have no responsibility is a bit feckless, i'd have to say
