I didn't see any ice.
FromSoft souls games were always medieval Gothic anime.
I dunno, unlike a lot of people I've never cared about the lore in Souls games beyond Demons and Dark Souls 1, I just don't find crawling around on my knees looking for scraps of speculation very compelling.
Mohg could have been revealed to have a brother called Ghom who is kindly, friendly and treats Miquella like a son and would never do him harm or make him stop watching anime or get a job, and I wouldn't have cared, really.
Just fun things to encounter and fight.
