Do the shadow tree blessings do ANYTHING?

Why does it feel like the Scadutree Blessings do absolutely nothing for you? I'm at level 10 of it, and I still feeling like I do no damage. I don't know if it's supposed to help with doing more damage or negating more damage or what. Everything still basically one shots no matter if it's the beginning of the DLC or end. It's like I don't even want to explore cuz the random enemies sprinkled about will decimate you, and trying to learn the movesets of the bosses is so annoyingly tedious.

All the weapons I use are maxed out, and my character is nearly level 200. I just think the blessings aren't all that helpful.

Are you in NG+? The balancing seems completely out of whack for anything beyond base difficulty

Maybe you have a squishy build with low HP, no buffs, weak armour, no def talismans and actually def lowering one for extra damage?

Oh yeah if you are using light armor or scar/soreseals take them off, % damage modifiers always go insane when you start stacking a bunch of scaling things together

You're going to get hit hard no matter what. Look at your stats in the DLC, then out of it, you'll see what I mean.

DLC isn't tied to your base game NG+ state as far as I know. That's the whole point of the blessings in the first place.

Not sure if intentional, but it's definitely tied to your NG+ state. A lot of the difficulty complaints are stemming from this exact confusion, I thought the same

Each blessing gives 5% more damage and defence. So at 10 blessings you have 50% more damage and defence. You can have 20 max blessings, so basically a 100% buff at the end. So for example if you were doing 800 damage each hit without blessings, now you would do 1600 damage per hit with max blessings. That is all they do, nothing else.

They do not magically increase your skill level, so even if you are doing double the damage you still need to be careful and play properly.

Could be it. The one character I'm using now is my only NG+ game. My other two I've only beat the game once with, so I guess I'll see if it's any different when I get to them.

I didn't realize being in NG+5 was the reason I was being instantly killed so often. The balance is very bad.
