ELDEN RING

ELDEN RING

View Stats:
DLC is too artifically hard and you can't change my mind
Insane damage and health pools is not fun

Recycled bosses is not fun.

New unique bosses with new movesets are fun, with reasonable damage and health pools

DLC is not fun and they should patch it if they want to make it playable for more than 1% of the player base

I'd say closer to 20%

There's no such thing as "artificial" difficulty. People said the same thing about EVERY single FromSoft game beginning with Demon Souls. It wasn't true for any of them, and it isn't true for the DLC either.

Either you grow or adapt or you shouldn't play those games. It's been like this for every single one of them. It was like this for Sekiro, or the base game of Elden Ring itself. People still played them fine, much like they will play this DLC like they normally do. 1% is a cope you made up in your head.

They are artifically hard because your character are gimped before getting more Scadu-Fragments. The more you explore and get the easier the bosses will be. This is done by design. Otherwise it would have been impossible to balance the DLC since some players will be level 100-150 and other might be level 500+.

if you have a trouble whit the difficulty, you can always summon...

It's never been an issue in other Souls games DLCs, why would it be a problem here ?
I don't know what they were thinking when creating this system but it's pure garbage.

''Casuals, how do I deal with this?''

Need the fragments that level things out. Explore. Or not. But that artificially boosts the difficulty early on. Makes you explore more.

It's been an issue with the DLC being to easy if overleveled in previous souls games also. Thats why they did this to make it balanced and super hard for everyone no matter the level. Also Elden ring is an open world game where it's super easy to farm runes so you can be level 300+ before even going into New game+. New game+ makes the game harder so it balances itself out abit. But if you stay at New game+0 and farm runes and level to an extreme level then the DLC would be too easy if this system did not exist.

The larger issue is the new dlc progression system fundamentally undermined the normal progression system. Leveling doesn't do you any good. Runes don't do you any good. All moot and pointless. Everything is about collecting fragments and it's pretty shallow.

Sounds like a skill issue

OR it's a way to level the playing field so you can enjoy it if you are level 700. Just a thought.

The problem is you shouldn't just outright render a core souls game progression system useless. It is too tightly intertwined with the gameplay loop for this genre. Otherwise it just becomes even more "pick up stuff to win" than the base game.

Whether anyone is overleveled or not is a playstyle thing. People can get overleveled in the base game anyways, and they can just start a new run for higher enemy stats. This doesn't justify the dlc itself being full of diamond poise blood sponges.

The DLC could just be a higher level area than the haligtree and it would suffice.
