the grace sites have shiny thingies. follow the thingies. that's how it works in the base game too. otherwise you'll have to explore and check the map. so far I'm having no issue as this map is smaller but way more open.
look for obvious roads or wall tombs. the land (again, as in the base game) is broken and some roads will go under it, as for the tombs they allow going down, not up. for going up there's a new system where when you find and destroy rock mounds (they are shiny too), a new horse wind jump will appear. that's how you access new zones, none of which (so far in my playthrough) are locked by story progress
Then dont buy and play the freaking game?!
Its like buying FIFA and dont liking football.
Man this forum these days...
Its like playing horrible RPG game while loving RPG.
ER might be a good Open-World game for many. For me, no. I prefer other OW games. But for a souls-like, its just a fact that souls like aren't meant to be an open world. I'm not playing because I want exploration. I'm playing because it is a souls like made by fromsoft.
