Furnace Golems - Miyazaki is a genius!
I just wanted to say how fun the Furnace Golems are in this game. Especially like in the Castle Watering Hole.
When they shoot out this massive spiralling fire stream that passes through everything in the environment, even massive rocks and not visibly showing no signs of touching you.
The part where you get knocked down and then when you get up you die because it last so long and you have no way to recover. 2200 HP, Fire resist, doesn't matter dead. Goodbye all your runes.
I'm sick of fighting back, thanks for putting me under.
Peak Elden Ring.

This has to be the most passive-aggressive sh*t I've ever read.

Wait till you poise break it but can't crit hit cuz the golem landed on a hill and you literally can't reach its head, kek.

Honestly I would have thought they would be weak to blunt strength weapons but they arent. all it seems like you can do is hit them till they poise break and back stab them. Abit of a let down how boring that is, at least in the base game the crystal enemies had an interesting weakness to that,

ooga booga. You have to poise break them 3 times to actually poise break em. Then stab in the face. Takes ages, but still. Also pray gods it wont land on a hill so you can't crit stab it. I had to kill one with 0 crits. Took me like 10 minutes and a sanity lol.
After 2 years they got it perfect, I'm just saying. You try to chip away at this big enemies with MASSIVE range and AOE and if they hit you one time you die. This is what everyone loves about souls games.
I don't even get me started on how good regular sized enemies are to. Like Rakshasa. Infinite stamina, endlessly running you down. Absolutely, infinite poise, continuing to attack right through your weapon arts as if you aren't even doing anything. God's work Miyazaki. You know what fun is and you sure made sure it wasn't in this DLC. Bless you sir.

Gotta agree that furnaces were "ok" for like the first 2... THen yes it's a slog of you dying because your camera reset at the worst time, or you got so bored you almost fell asleep and didn't notice he's using the chasing fireball one during melee

Also Rakshasa is garbage, because you KNOW he shouldn't be hard, but yeah, i got him to spam his weapon art for a whooping 7 times in a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ row. You can maybe break his hyperarmor with a UGS, but screw the fact i should be using this to try to deal with a damn terrible AI that's just spamming rollcatching weapon arts.

That straight up gave me PTSD from DS3 PVP for christ sake.

The thing is with fromsoft, is that they reached a peak where "making it harder" WILL be ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cheap because they've done it all. They have to raise the stakes because they play their own games and need to up the antics, but the general public is going to hate those things. Parry 5 time malenia ? How about i don't parry her at all ffs, that's garbage.

Poise break the furnaces 3 times ? Well yeah, so it takes so long to deal with them, you're sure to know the patterns after spending more times on killing furnaces than on entire areas.

All that for 16k souls ? Bruh.

Love the DLC so far, but some of those things really aren't "good", it's not a test of skill, it's a test of endurance at this point. AS a completionist, this ♥♥♥♥ is just disapointing.

Then the solution would be do your damn best to not get hit. Practice makes perfect. Everyone gets their face smashed in in souls games, you aren't unique or special in that regard, the reason the rest of us manage to get through it is patience and practice.
Almost every enemy has some sore of weakness. Experiment and try some stuff.
Small tip on the flame dudes, you can jump over a lot of their fire aoe that they do with their feet. Some just by yourself, others with torrent's double jump.

Lotta edgey middle-aged folks these days. I blame television, parents, and video games.

There is lore to explain how fire can pass through solid stone so this is a skill issue.
if you stand still for 5 minutes at a precise and hidden location, you can speak to an invisible NPC who explains how fire and rock and hitboxes work in the game.

To be more technical, there is a hidden parameter probably called something like "kill" which determines how badly the developers want you to die at any particular location or encounter, and this parameter determines things like size and time lag of enemy hitboxes, counter damage, direction of fall when being knocked down on a precipice and yes, fire going through more than a meter of solid stone.
