The Great Katana is pretty trash
I was just using the great moonlight sword and decided to respec and try the great katana. Levelled it up to +16 and it doesnt even come close to the damage of a +10 great moonlight sword. Plus the swing is super slow so your open for attack. Its a shame cause the weapon looks cool.

Wish i didnt waste all those smithing stones.

You do realize that a +10 moonlight greatsword is maxed somber type and that a +16 means it is a regular type that maxes at +25, right? Hard to compare when you are only a little over half strength...

+10 special weapon is equivalent to a +25 normal weapon.
A +16 normal weapon is like a +4/+5 special weapon lol. You're getting half the base damage and scaling of what you would expect.

Reload your backup save... You should have made one to reload if it doesn't work out.

How is this a waste ? You can buy the stones at the round table. Any trash mobs from the DLC give 1000-2500 runes... I'm pretty sure +16 isn't even worth 20k runes.

"Waste", yeah, you "wasted" something you can literally get an infinite supply of. Just don't +10/+25 anything until you're sure, anything below that is not a finite resource.

I had to spend a lot of runes to get the weapon to +24 cause I had to buy all the smithing stones. Could have put that towards a new level instead of this very large piece of junk.

I hope the other weapons in the DLC are better cause if not thats just a big L on fromsoftware. The rest of the DLC has been good so far

If you play passively the weapon is terrible, if you play aggressively it hard carries

Go figure for a 2h katana

The damage output doesnt compensate for the slowness. Normally video game logic is if they make you move slow its because you deal higher damage.

Has anyone tried the backhand blade yet

The stagger and range are what make up for this. Seriously the moveset on light attacks is amazing
