Did I mention that she occasionally also does slashes from the side that hit me even though I'm blocking? Oh and she has high poise meaning you can't really interrupt her combos.
Anyway blocking was out and she was to fast for me to reliably dodge her attacks. I can't parry so I'm literally out of defensive options. In the end I pulled out mimic and had her just constantly switch focus to attack her when possible. And even then it took several attempts and I died on the try she went down. Mimic did the final hit.
I really hate this kind of design though. It's not even about strategy or good gameplay. It's just pure speed and reaction time. It's the kind of design that killed real-time strategy games for me - to much happening to quickly.

Initially I just wanted to use block to somewhat learn her attack patterns and maybe switch to dodge rolls afterwards. The way she constantly turns and manages to still push about 80% of her attacks into your direction makes that extremely difficult though.
Even Malenia and Maliketh are more predictable and avoidable in terms of damage than Rellana. Malenia's standard moveset can mostly be avoided by simply rolling forward past her and then attacking her from behind.
Rellana has 5-10 strike combos where you dodge the first and second and get immediately hit by the third and potentially fourth if you are anywhere near her because she just turns around mid moveset. And then between combos you may have time for one attack befor she goes into her next moveset. I've seen her move instantly to the next moveset without time for punishment where my attempt to attack her resulted in getting my face smashed.
And where Malenia's waterfowl dance is pretty damn terrible for me (I killed her 4 times but never felt like I actually defeated waterfowl dance) Rellana's moveset as a whole feels like constant waterfowl dance with it becoming more extreme from 50% onward.
Oh and Rellana has that moon attack that strikes three times where you're basically dead if you get hit by the first one because it just stuns you and keeps hitting you without a chance to roll out of it from what I've seen (I only saw that attack once and killed her afterwards by using mimic summon)
