i need a bit of help with bayle the dread

Hit the severed leg for bonus damage. Also the first dragon down below in the open field fighting another will unlock an NPC for Bayle when it's defeated. He doesn't do a ton of damage but can help at least.

Stay on its back severed leg and perhaps use a spirit summon as well you have leveled up to distract. Also, use Dragon grease you'll do more damage.

I would not recommend hitting his severed leg. It's not really a "weak spot" as it takes less, if not equal damage as would hitting the head. I've found the thickest part of the tail behind the severed leg to be the spot to take more damage, however.
