Personally, I had no issue with it until I reached the Dancing Lion.
Doing 1000+ damage to him is barely a scratch. Like 1/100 of his overall HP or something.
It almost feels like somebody enabled NG+7 scaling to their HP pools by default as a mistake just before the release.
I expect we'll see a tune-down patch in a couple of days.
You could meme about Souls games being hard as much as you want, but this DLC is just ridiculous. It's either balanced around co-op/spirit ashes, or an actual bug.
But yeah I try him again with a great katana this time and was doing no damage to him that time,
seem like elemental damage is a big thing on him, I guess…
Same way the big fire guys are weak to blunt damage like golem
Dancing Lion I didn't mind too much because he can be punished pretty easily and has long openings to get charged attacks and skills in. I think he's weak to fire too. I was hitting him for about 800dmg with buffs on a greatsword with a normal r1. But landing about 2-3 hits per opening.
However Rellana... I feel like anything but bleed, frost, and sorceries are difficult against her. You do too little damage for how little openings she has. I could barely get a light attack in and not get punished. I only barely beat her after about an hour of trying by using ashes of war to get damage in from further away.
