:He has craploads of poise so Great hammers and big weps are safer to use on him
:DO NOT get aggressive if hes two handing his sword his weapon art has crazy poise and he just does more damage in general if you keep
:He will not fire the crossbow if hes one handing his sword/crossbow nor can he use his weapon art so thats the best time to be aggressive
hes very tanky but good use of charged heavys and proper spacing will see you through.
When he switches to crossbow, get closs. Strafe left/right and then when the last shot flies, go in and get a free hit.
I recommend Lion's claw personally if you're using a strength build.
When it comes to his combos, Just backpeddle until you get his combos down. The only one that'll sometimes catch you off guard is when he does the ground strike followed by the slash. Once he finishes his combo string, he has about 2 seconds of recovery time when he's vulnerable. Slap him with lions claw to knock him, And then you can hit him with a charged heavy within that recovery window as well.
Just make sure to keep distance between you and him. It seems he's programmed to switch to crossbow if you get too far. This will give you a window to heal. After he fires the crossbow he'll always run in double handling his sword and usually tries a jump attack. If you time Lions claw right you can hit him mid-air and knock him down.
Rinse and repeat until he's dead. A lot of the bosses so far in this dlc seem to be combo pigs. Don't duke it out with them, Wait until their combos are over and hit them within their recovery windows.
This is how I beat him. There's probably an easier way to do it but this worked for me.
