A step by step guide to help you defeat the big ugly dancing lion. You will find him in the castle on the left side of the map, he is very swift and uses multiple elements at hand as well as flying and swinging all over the place like some weird magic worm. Lets break down how you can defeat him.

I finally managed to kill it after several attempts. Almost did it in my first, but then several after wards and I couldn't get it past the second phase ( it seems to change elements every 25% health drop ).

Even with npc's though it was pretty tough though. It drains your health so quickly. Shield helped negate a lot of damage, but then your damage output is slow as molasses.

How I beat him:

-Spawn the friendly NPC at the doorway.

- Equip Grassinax spear and Radahn's bow

- Go in holding spear, Don't attack. Run around dodging the Lion until the friendly npc comes in and the lion focuses on her. She's the main tank distraction.

-Spawn mimic while holding Spear. Once mimic is out, Switch to bow.

-While lion is focused on friendly npc and mimic tear, Use Radahn's bow's arrow rain ability on it, Over and over.

-Swap to Spear when you need to be mobile. Chuck some charged spears at it while moving around.

It took me about 4 tries but I killed it with this method. The key is NOT taking the lion head on. If you Agro it, Don't try to be cheeky and get some shots in. Run, Evade, Try to lead it back over to the friendly npc and let her agro it again. She can take those hits, You're too squishy. Once you have distance, Spam range attacks until it's dead.

I just ended up using tiche after dying 50+ times when the boss was at pixel health because of aoe lighting.

I'm only a little bit past the lion boss but this dlc has been full of random one shot kills at full health. Extremely inconsistent about it.

Only gets worse makes learning a fight just not fun when everything is a 3 to 1 shot.

Summon Freyja.

Try to stay behind him or under him. His most damaging attacks are from midrange. He telegraphs the lunge attack and the grab pretty hard. If he does the attack where he jumps in the air and spins toward you, he's going to follow up with another delayed one and then try to flip you up with his tail then use his spinning breath attack. After this he's vulnerable for a second.

Most of the ends of his attack chains won't hit if you can dodge behind him as he's doing the first two.

The elements don't change very much except he does a big telegraphed special for each one, the most annoying being the frost form one. For the lightning form, just run away from the big special attack and don't get hit by lightning strikes while trying to find an opening. For the air phase he's about the same except way more damaging and the big special he does can be dodged by getting a little distance and jumping to the side. DO NOT GET HIT BY THE AIR ONE, it hurts. The frost form big special attack sends out a nova in multiple directions that lands on most of the stage but can be jumped.

If you end up really close to him when he's doing the spin breath attack you can jump over it until you're out of range or the attack's over, which is not a bad way to stay close while taking advantage of the huge opening after the attack ends.

Beat him with the summon and dual curved great swords at RL70. Hits were doing about 900-1000 with buffs. A fully leveled build should have no trouble with this once they get his weird 3-hit attack patterns down.

In my case i used the help of freyja + rot incantations (only until it activates the effect)
Once done i mix between using black flame at medium distance and just 1 or 2 normal attacks at close range.

yet i still almost died, so i don't think it was that great of a idea, lol.
