First Boss Help (DLC)
I don't wish to summon, or look for cheese strats.

What have been some tactics for those who have beaten it?

With all the lagspikes, FPS Drops, atrocious camera angles at times, and phase 2 being something I barely get to due to the above, I am struggling to learn phase 2 entirely, and barely manage to get 50% of his health before I am out of flasks, and or dead. It seems that when he is right in front of me spinning or doing whatever, my FPS drops as if to say the camera angle is THAT bad my FPS might as well dip, it's harder to react at that point but I'm just curious.

Are there fixes for the FPS issues in this fight specifically, or some sort of mechanic for this boss I've just missed out on, I can't seem to get a single hit in with the lightning or ice sections, as they have enormous AoE and he's able to use an elemental ability, alongside 3 or 4 attacks before I can even swing once, I'm just stuck, I've been fighting this dude for 4 hours straight lol (skill issue i know)

His tells are really weak and quick. had to drop my pride and use some erd blessings to lower its damage a bit, also a +2/+3 magic soak talisman helps too.

I'll try this, although I did use some blessings, although IDK which one does which, but I've got "3" on both, I have no idea how good or bad that is, I assume bad because I am getting absolutely DEMOLISHED lmaooo

yeah, i have the exact same problems. The only thing ive found is some times unlocking when he's doing air stuff kinda helps, and when he does his spinning breath attack.

Lightning phase you kind of just have to play defensively. Or at least, I was unable to figure out a way to safely attack him without getting hit by stray lightning.

Ice phase is very punishing and he can practically one shot you. The ice stomp has a pretty generous dodge window, that being said. The ice AOE isn't as scary as you might think in general, as you can, for the most part, just dodge like normal and still avoid attacks.

Beyond that, the big breath attack he does where he goes in a circle is best avoided by backing away while dodging/jumping the breath. Dodging into it is just asking for your camera to explode and stop functioning. Unlocking your camera also works, here.

A lot of his other attack strings are surprisingly not that long and usually start with him attacking forward. If you can get to his sides, you can get away with getting some attacks off. He can still hit you, but I feel like it worked fairly well for me.

Really take advantage of wind phase, also. That's by far his easiest phase, easier than his first phase, also.

Wait till you see phase 3...had him down to one ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hit no blessings and he just goes ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
I absolutely can't beat that guy lol

He kicked my ass for the longest time! Literally just beat him. Playing in 1st person VR and it was damn near impossible to figure out where he was going; the camera angles were all over the place. Good luck! Hope you manage to take him down soon.

Are people seriously too scared to use the blessings? Has it really gotten THAT bad?

it was an intended restrictrion i wanted to have. To make it harder. But with 2 blessings iv seen a noticable dmg reduction but nothing to increase my dmg. It feels like it was intended that they are used.

I used scarlet rot, he's very weak to it and melted himself while I focus on dodging.

Do you really think they would take the time to develop a feature that they actively didn't want players to use? Why would they do that?

It seemed pretty obvious to me that they included the blessings to promote exploration of the new area, and provide some semblance of progression for players that will probably already be a VERY high level going into the DLC.

If Fromsoft didn't want you to do something, they wouldn't put it in the game. Using the tools that the game provides is NOT cheating.

As for the boss, keeping your distance helps see and avoid the lightning strikes. I mostly ended up waiting it out until he switched again because attacking during the lightning phase is too dangerous.

Isnt about cheating. Some "tools" are just too strong. Mimic per example. Iv tried it and intentionally killed myself a few times in the DLC. It makes a very hard boss battle into a button mash faceroll.

Magic is the same, there are several fights where bosses are very slippery and often dodge out of range after a combo while magic just sits back and shoots.

Just like i put restrictions on myself not to utilize summons, coop, scarletrot, magic etc i tho that the new mechanic might be to strong and wanted to try and do bosses without it. (With summons it wouldnt really be needed) but with all the previous restrictions it just became too hard.

You should try actually using some of these things that you've been told are "Too strong."

Spoilers: they really aren't. The game was made and balanced around them existing and being used.

I noticed, they dont increase my damage at all, but they have more or less reduced enemy dmg by 50% or so.
