I need help game is barely working \\?\GLOBALROOT\Device\HarddiskVolume3\Program Files (x86)\Direct Folders\dfh64.dll
Hi, I played Elden Ring on launch perfectly fine. Then about a year ago I tried a randomizer, I haven't played since. Now I'm trying to play again and not only am I lagging in the menu, but the game is barely function at all, and its not reading inputs well either (taking multiple button mashes to select things). I don't know what to do. And i get this message when I close the game: \\?\GLOBALROOT\Device\HarddiskVolume3\Program Files (x86)\Direct Folders\dfh64.dll
Also. are there any essential startup programs that Elden ring uses (on Windows 10) because I may hhave accidentally closed them and made them manual.

validate your game files. Uninstall mods.

Is there a specific place where the mods would go? Can they effect the game from outside the Elden Ring game folder? I'm trying to find them, but its been over a year and I'm not sure what im looking for. Also, I have validated the game files

Update video card driver? When you uninstall I'd go to the install folder and completly delete anything left. Do you have another hard drive you can do a fresh install on? HD might be dying.

That dll doesn't look like it has anything to do with steam or elden ring, whatever program that is using it might be causing the problem also.

what do you mean by the install folder? Do you mean the folder inside steam commonapps/eldenring?
Also, I think it was easy anti cheat related

I'm still stuck if anyone can help
hmm, seems like you're on a bad OS.

should probably upgrade to linux, elden ring performs better on linux generally.

You have a corrupted library file.

Open elevated command prompt and type
sfc /scannow
then
dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
