radahn isnt designed to be faught at level 40. 80 to 100 is more in lines of the scaling of that boss. if you google the whitemask varre questline and have a crossbow as well as a merchant that sells you unlimited bolts you can get to a pretty good farming spot which makes getting to level 80 an act of maybe an hour. fextralife also has an interactable map that shows where upgrade materials are. if you use a smithingstone weapon i can only tell you to go to the liurnia crystall cave as well as the sealed cave in altus plateau to get the smithingstone bell bearing 1 and 2. liurnias is tied to a boss but should be easily doable for level 40 and some patience. sealed cave is free if you are good at running past enemies without dying. when you go into the sealed cave there is first a room that only has a site of grace. there is an ilusiory wall in there and the behind that wall has a chest where second bell bearing is. this should get your smithing stone weapon to +12 easily. if you use magicor incantations you can even farm the miners in the sealed cave for smithing stone 5s to get your weapon to +15. btw you need 12 of each smithing stone to upgrade your weapon and get to the next higher tier of smithing stone. but beware: if you are intending to play pvp in certain level brackets upgrading your weapon can lock you out of those since macthmaking considers your level and your highest achieved upgrade level. discarding your weapon wont do anything for you since that latter part cant be lowered.
fextralife isnt the best source of info but its pretty good for finding the items you want. if you ever want something specific google "elden ring [specific item]" and you get a fextralife ling pretty much at the top. also little tip for radahn: when you start the fight get on torrent and runn towrds your camera when the camera ilooking at radahn. if you ride far enough you deload radahn. then you turn arround and ride back. this will completely skip radahn annoying bow pahse and will see him first shoot way the right and then go into melee mode and charge at you directly.

Use the summoning symbols, the way the fight is designed is for it to be a massive fight, that's why he feels weird to fight solo because he's not meant to be.

He is like the rest of caleid scaled to level 80. 100 is a bit overleveled yes but 20 more stat points can cover for lack of expierience.
